'City of Heroes' - Screens

by Rainier on Jan. 30, 2004 @ 2:27 p.m. PST

City of Heroes is the first superhero themed online RPG and will offer a host of exciting and compelling gameplay features. Players create their own heroes, choosing from hundreds of different powers, skills, abilities, and items and design their own unique costumes. Then they can band together with other players to fight evil, build their own secret headquarters and strive to become the premiere hero group in the city. Check out some new powers and new screens ...

1. Blaster

Power Set: Ice Blast

Power: Bitter Freeze Ray

This power can hold your opponent frozen in a solid block of ice. The villain can be attacked and will remain frozen and helpless for a limited amount of time. After the ice thaws, the villain emerges chilled and slowed. Bitter Freeze Ray deals minimal damage.

2. Defender

Power Set: Force Field

Power: Personal Force Field

The Personal Force Field is virtually impenetrable to all attacks. Though the impact of some of the more powerful attacks may occasionally rattle the protected Hero, no damage or harmful effects are sustained. The Force Field is a double-edged power, in that while encased within the shield only self-affecting powers can be used—no melee or ranged attacks on foes are possible.

3. Controller

Power Set: Fire Control

Power: Fire Imps

The Fire Imps power summons 4 small Fire Imps to a targeted location. Fire Imps are very aggressive and will viciously attack any nearby foes. They aren’t very smart and possess only the most rudimentary instincts. Be sure to summon Fire Imps near the enemies you want to attack.
