EA Europe Signs Namco's 'Breakdown' (Xbox) - Screens

by Rainier on Feb. 4, 2004 @ 1:45 a.m. PST

Electronic Arts today announced plans to publish BREAKDOWN from Namco Limited for the Xbox. Breakdown is the hotly anticipated first-person action adventure title that combines Namco's legendary fighting game experience with the best elements of traditional shooters. A thrilling science fiction storyline is revealed through its high-end, real-time rendered graphics, bringing an unprecedented level of realism to the gameplay experience. The game features intense hand-to-hand and weapons-based combat, challenging puzzles, surreal dream sequences, advanced A.I and massive, detailed environments for exploration.

Playing the role of Derrick Cole, a US soldier badly wounded in combat and brought back from the brink of death as a result of 'cyborg' experiments, you wake up in the Carter Research Centre—a US research facility located in Yokohama, Japan—unable to remember your past. Here you come under attack from US soldiers and are saved unexpectedly by Alex Henderson, a female soldier.

You have no choice but to escape from the research centre and unravel the sinister plot, battling hoards of seemingly invincible super-human warriors, learning new combos and acquiring new vehicles and weapons for the ultimate first-person experience.

Breakdown is scheduled for release in June 2004.
