by Rainier on Feb. 23, 2004 @ 4:03 p.m. PST

Millions of light years away in the star system Theophilus, an unknown evil threatened mankind, an evil defeated by Sho- a rare human alien hybrid known as a “Vipa,” and the game’s main character. However, that was only the beginning. Taking place two years after the events of the original Crimson Sea, CRIMSON SEA 2 sees the IAG – the agency charged with the protection of the galaxy –in a state of near-collapse. Still reeling from a massive surprise attack, IAG Commander, Live-D organizes the remaining forces along with a rag-tag team of mercenaries and survivors. Sho’s old friends from G-Squad are dispersed to different areas of the galaxy, but in light of the devastation, Sho searches for more help.

CRIMSON SEA 2 features over 60 missions and 3 two-player modes. Work together to bring down the enemy and clear a stage in “Co-op” mode, battle head-to-head “death match” style in “Versus” mode, or try to outscore your human opponent in “Competition” mode.

NEW FEATURES

CRIMSON SEA 2 is an exhilarating battle experience that includes game elements such as customizable weapons, bionic abilities, three two-player modes and more. New game features, not seen in the previous Crimson Sea include:

NEW! Two Playable Characters and Character-Based Missions

The original Crimson Sea for Xbox included only one playable character. Now, in CRIMSON SEA 2, players can control the two main characters Sho and Feanay. Both Sho (the protagonist from the original) and Feanay have unique weapons and fighting techniques, so players can enjoy two styles of action.

NEW! Two Player Co-Op and Versus Modes

CRIMSON SEA 2 includes three two-player modes:

  • Battle a human opponent on a split screen in “Vs” mode.
  • Work together with a companion to bring down the enemy and clear a stage in “Co-op” mode.
  • Outscore your opponent “Competition” mode.

NEW! Weapons and Fighting Techniques

Tough battles using guns and blades are the heart of this game, but you’re not just shooting and slashing. Players must uncover the secrets of the alien threat and eradicate their forces using an array of new fighting techniques. Along with a variety of new weapons and fighting techniques, CRIMSON SEA 2 features a series of enhanced Neo-Psionic attacks- devastating energy waves that can change the tide of battle in a single move. By combining various weapons and Neo-Psionic techniques, a player can attack a full screen of enemies in a single move.

NEW! Over 60 Missions and Non-Linear Progression through Stages

In CRIMSON SEA 2, players will be able to choose which missions they will play. They will also be able to explore stages through secondary missions. Through secondary missions, you can still develop your character’s HP and weapons, so that you can later accept the missions that were too difficult to complete. While the original Crimson Sea included only 24 missions, CRIMSON SEA 2 features over 60 missions with varied objectives such as:

  • Rescue those left behind in an area of attack.
  • Infiltrate an enemy stronghold and gather intelligence.
  • Deliver a lifesaving vaccine within the time limit.
  • Plus escort, smuggling, and collection missions.

Special Weapons and Attacks

In addition to the 3 main types of weapons – guns, blades, and Neo-Psionics – there are also special actions that let you manipulate time. Use your weapons strategically and efficiently to bring down the enemy in one clean sweep. For example “Time Extend” is a special power that alters the passage of time in your immediate area. This time lag allows you to dodge attacks and to concentrate your attack against the enemy.

Weapons Development

By developing your weapons, you will be able to take on even-more-difficult missions. During a mission, Origin items will appear. Players can gather these Origin items to power up their abilities and improve the effectiveness of their weapons.

Changing Characters

During the game, fulfill certain conditions and you will be able to change characters. From that point on, you can alternate between the two main characters, Sho and Feanay, and unlock character-specific missions.
