Vidis Signs 'Restricted Area' - Screens

by Rainier on April 20, 2004 @ 9:25 a.m. PDT

Thrown into the year 2083 the player of Restricted Area slips into the role of one of four totally different characters and progresses independently through the same story.

The game features a vast number of weapons, dynamic dialogues adapted to the situations and the player's actions, an exclusive soundtrack from popular international composers, an advanced combat system for fast-paced action with shooter elements and advanced AI with group tactics that reacts on "visible strength" – the perceived strength and condition of a character, like e.g. the weapon in his hand.

Restricted Area takes advantage of IRIS, the fastest and most powerful engine ever written for an isometric game, which took over two years to create and which has been designed especially for Restricted Area. It contains an uncountable number of visual effects, for example dynamic lights and shadows, rain, fog, smoke, dust, fire, water, explosions and reflections and 3D Soundeffects, produced by Academy Award winning company Todd/Soundelux (Oscar for Braveheart). All animations are based on motion capturing by House of Moves, the "widely recognizied leader in their field" (David Perkinson, Sega of America).

To round up the perfect atmosphere the German version of Restricted Area will be synchronized with the original German voices of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jet Li.

The game is planned for a release in early September, shortly after its presentation at Leipzig's Games Convention in August.
