Atari Europe Signs 'Digimon Rumble Arena 2' (NGC/PS2/Xbox)

Atari announce the release of Bandai's Digimon Rumble Arena 2 for the PlayStation2, GameCube and the Xbox. From October 2004, the Digimon will go at each other for the second time in a frenzied four-way fight to reign supreme.

The first in the series to appear on the current generation of home consoles, Digimon Rumble Arena 2 takes melée battling to new heights of fast-paced bedlam. Bash the living daylights out of opponents in gorgeously rendered 3D environments, ranging from the deserts of the wild west in Danger Gulch, to the conveyor belts of the Factory and the deathly bubbling pools of Lava Lake.

Players choose to battle as any one of the popular Digimon characters on offer, which include Growlmon, Zudomon, Greymon and Agunimon. Up to four Digimon can fight it out on-screen at once, with players pitting their wits either against the computer, or in multiplayer mode with up to three action-hungry friends.

Repeatedly knocking opponents into next week gives players the chance to pick up Digipoints, eventually allowing the Digimon to Digivolve into immensely powerful beasts. All the characters have their very own devastating special attacks, plus there are additional attacks which make the most of the level environments, such as cunningly placed barrels of TNT.

"Digimon Rumble Arena 2 is a superb piece of on-screen chaos and a thoroughly enjoyable video game whether you're one of the millions of Digimon fans in Europe, or you just enjoy dishing out slapstick beatings to a screen-full of adversaries," said Martin Spiess, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Atari Europe. "There's a whole new level of gameplay magic with the multiplayer mode, elevating the game to a genuinely great piece of crazy interactive entertainment."

Digimon Battle Spirits 2 for Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox will be released across Europe in October 2004. For more information on Digimon Battle Spirits 2, visit www.atari.com.
