About Judy

As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

by Judy on July 14, 2004 @ 4:39 p.m. PDT

Set in the Star Wars timeframe between Episode IV and Episode V, this first extension to the Star Wars Galaxies foundation opens 10 vast and distinct space sectors, spanning from the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim, for players to explore while engaging their opponents in intense real-time combat or uniting with friends in battle or exploration.

When not immersed in action inspired by the classic StarWars trilogy, players build and customize their own ships, including the YT-1300 transports made famous by Han Solo's Millennium Falcon. Star Wars Galaxies: Jump To Lightspeed will also include over 100 new story driven space missions, four new space specific professions and two new completely customizable species.

A massive amount of content populates the 10 new distinct space sectors spanning from the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim. Players fly any of the more than 15 customizable starfighters and starships through asteroid fields, nebulae and into PvE battle against well-known capital ships from Star Wars canon. Transport ships available in the game allow players to adventure and fight through space with friends onboard.

Jump To Lightspeed also features an extensive loot-driven mission system that will supply space adventurers with items and components that feed directly into the current robust ground game economy. In the dangerous environment of space, starcraft will sustain significant damage during battle requiring players return to the core ground game to find skilled artisans for repairs, upgrades and upgrades to their craft. The content of Jump to Lightspeed dovetails naturally with the ground game, keeping players adventuring into space, but living and building community on the ground.
