About Judy

As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

Deep Silver Signs 'Scrapland' - Screens

by Judy on Sept. 27, 2004 @ 9:30 a.m. PDT

Scrapland features a huge variety of characters and spaceships that players can use and built the way they wants. A funny storyline of intriguing plot twists, very bad guys and incredible high-speed air combat in single and multiplayer modes accompany an open-ended game design.

Deep Silver are pleased to announce the UK release of American McGee's highly anticipated game, Scrapland. Working with development team Mercury Steam, Executive Producer American McGee (Doom, Doom 2, Alice in Wonderland) has injected his own unique blend of creativity into the character development and dialogue of Scrapland, elevating the game play into a true entertainment experience. A deeply immersive 3rd person 3D action/adventure, Scrapland sets players in a bizarre robotic world made of scrap parts. Scheduled for release January 2005, Scrapland will be the 1st release for Deep Silver on the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft, priced at £39.99. The game will also be available on PC CD ROM at £29.99.

"I knew I wanted to be involved with this project the moment I met with Mercury Steam and saw the game," said American McGee, Executive Producer for Scrapland. "Scrapland has an extremely unique free-form style of play that capitalizes on the success of games like GTA3, yet takes the action one step further."

"The Deep Silver label is about finding innovative games," said Craig McNicol, Managing Director of Deep Silver's parent KOCH Media, "X² and Singles certainly made a mark in 2004 and established us as an international publishing label. Scrapland fits perfectly into the Deep Silver portfolio as a title that redefines the gaming experience."

Published by DEEP SILVER, developed by MERCURY STEAM and distributed exclusively by KOCH MEDIA in the UK, Germany and Italy, American McGee's Scrapland launches in the UK, January 2005, priced at £39.99 for Microsoft XBOX and £29.99 for PC CD ROM.
