New England Patriots 26, Philadelphia 21

Pregame

The crowd is settling into their seats and is eagerly awaiting the pregame introductions (01:04:18:04). Finally the teams come out onto the field and greet the tulmtuous crowd. Both teams know that this may be the last time they play in a Super Bowl, and both teams will do anything to win it (01:04:37:18 and 01:04:41:17).

1st Quarter:

The game starts off very tensely. Both offenses have short drives before punting. The coordinators are making very conservative play calls to see if they can find an exploit in the opposing defenses. But both defenses have come out to make a statement. Jevon Kearse gets an early sack on Tom Brady (01:01:26:11) and Tedy Bruschi lowers the boom on Brian Westbrook (01:01:54:09). On the Patriots second possession, though, they put together a great drive that ends in a touchdown pass from Tom Brady to Troy Brown (01:00:39:07). After the early score, the defenses bunker back down and the quarter ends with the Pats in the lead 7-0.

2nd Quarter:

The second quarter begins much the same way as the 1st quarter ended. The defenses continue to hold strong and make plays (01:01:34:18 and 01:01:44:24). The Eagles Donovan McNabb finally starts moving the Eagles down the field with a long scramble for 25 yards (01:02:55:29). And the Eagles finally capitalize on a drive as McNabb throws a touchdown pass to Terrell Owens (01:00:10:11). The Patriots are a tested team, though, and they put on a clinic as they slowly move down the field and kick a field goal just before halftime (telestream footage). The half ends with the Pats on top 10-7.

3rd Quarter:

The Pats receive the ball to start the second half, and they start the third quarter much like they ended the first half. They drive straight down the field and this time end up with a touchdown with a 30 yard pass and scamper from Brady to Deion Branch (01:02:37:27). The Pats look like they have something going at the beginning of the third quarter. Can the Eagles respond? Indeed they do. This time its Westbrook carrying the load. First he sets up the touchdown (01:03:12:18), and then scores it with a long run up the middle (01:00:25:27). The Eagles have steadied the course and the third quarter ends with the Pats leading 17-14.

4th Quarter:

The Eagles are able to hold a Pats drive to a FG at the beginning of the 4th quarter to give the Pats a six point lead (telestream footage). Both teams are on edge now with offensive drives that go nowhere. The next big play could probably break the game in their teams favor. And McNabb is the man who steps up. He uses his feet and arm to drive the Eagles down the field until he gives the Eagles their first lead of the day with a twenty yard touchdown pass to Freddie Mitchell.

With a 21-20 lead, the Eagles know they have only five minutes to hold the Pats scoreless to erase years of heartbreak. The Eagles come out expecting the pass, but instead New England decides to run it down their throats. Corey Dillon, virtually having no impact in the game thus far, steps up and carries the Pats down the field (01:03:40:03). The Pats decide not to settle for a FG, they want to try to put the game away and force a tie at worse. They continue to drive until they hand it off to Dillon who runs for his team's final ten yards of the game and a touchdown (01:01:17:04). The Eagles stop the two point conversion, but it doesn't matter. The Pats easily hold McNabb and the Eagles offense in check (01:02:03:11) and win the game 26-21.

Post Game

We see the final score as 26-21 (telestream footage). We see the Patriots celebrating on the sideline and at midfield (01:05:28:10). We see the Eagles sulking on the sideline (01:05:47:26). And then the World Champion New England Patriots lift their head coach in the air triumphantly (01:05:53:23).
