by Rainier on March 8, 2002 @ 6:03 p.m. PST

Continuing its policy of strong licences, Thrustmaster reinforces its portfolio by signing the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan license. Thrustmaster’s big kick-off will take place in April 2002, a few weeks before the beginning of the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan, the world’s largest sports event of the year. A complete “team” of accessories for PS, PS2, GameCube and the Xbox, will be released.

"Fever around the 2002 FIFA World Cup is already growing among gamers keen on soccer and … many others. Thrustmaster is proud to offer them a full range of unique gaming accessories which are completely immersed in the sports event of the year and which are officially licensed for 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan. This exciting Thrustmaster range will help them experience the FIFA World Cup with even more intensity by allowing them to combine their passion for football and for video games" says Jean-Michel DETOC, Thrustmaster's General Manager.

Playing a soccer tournament on console with an accessory especially designed in the football spirit and stamped with the prestigious 2002 FIFA World Cup emblem, will be great excitement for all football fans. This unique range from Thrustmaster will definitely prolong the magic of the event.

Thrustmaster's accessories, made under license, will include gamepads, arcade stick, memory cards for PSone, PlayStation2, Xbox and GameCube and an extremely innovative accessory specifically created for the worldwide event: the 2002 FIFA World Cup Football Stadium, an official licensed product of the 2002 FIFA WorldCup Korea/Japan.

The 2002 FIFA World Cup Football Stadium is the first pitch dedicated to soccer games on video game consoles (2 versions: PlayStation2 and GameCube). It is composed of a mat and 3 vertical sensors which detect the player's movements and reproduce them in real time into the game (Shoot, Pass, Lob, Tackles…). Football fans will nearly smell the pitch grass into their lounge!
