by Rainier on Sept. 7, 2005 @ 7:36 a.m. PDT

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Winter Assault features a deeper single-player experience, a brand new fifth race – The Imperial Guard – and even more intense Dawn of War action. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Winter Assault is based on the world of Warhammer 40,000 - the dark, futuristic, fantasy universe from Games Workshop.

Winter Assault, expansion pack to last year's Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, brings a deeper single player experience, a new playable race, The Imperial Guard and four new units for each of the existing races, to the franchise. Developed by THQ's Relic Entertainment, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Winter Assault is scheduled to begin shipping to retailers worldwide on September 19, 2005.

"The response to the highly visceral combat action in the original Dawn of War was a huge part of the feedback we received from fans," said Ron Moravek, general manager of Relic Entertainment. "But we also wanted to make sure we listened to what our players wanted more of, which is why we are featuring a very deep single player game and a new race that will give multiplayer games a whole new dimension in terms of strategy."

Dawn of War: Winter Assault is based on the world of Warhammer 40,000 -- the dark, futuristic, fantasy universe from Games Workshop (LSE: GAW - News) traveled by millions worldwide. For more information on Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Winter Assault, please visit www.dawnofwargame.com.
