Humongous Inc. announced today that four-time Major League Baseball All-Star and 2005 National League MVP Albert Pujols will appear on the cover of the newest version of Backyard Baseball slated for release spring 2006.

Widely regarded as one of the best players in the game, Pujols is also known for outstanding sportsmanship, wholesome values, and extensive community service, qualities that make him the ideal representative for Backyard Baseball, the most popular children's baseball video game franchise ever. Since its launch in 1997, Backyard Baseball has sold more than 2 million units.

"Backyard Baseball is awesome because it lets kids see what it's actually like to play Major League baseball," says Pujols, who enjoys playing Backyard Baseball with his son AJ. "Kids can choose from real baseball players like myself, A-Rod, and Derek Jeter and then make their own All-Star team."

The only kid's game to hold the coveted MLB and Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) licenses, Backyard Baseball 2007 features a roster full of top professionals as kids such as Alex Rodriguez, Ichiro Suzuki, Lance Berkman, David Ortiz, Vladimir Guerrero, as well as Albert Pujols and many others. The game includes all 30 MLB teams, uniforms, and logos along with actual plays and strategies that are not only fun but help kids learn the ins and outs of real baseball.

Backyard Baseball 2007 also offers single pick-up games, homerun derby, or season play (with all the stats) and varying levels of difficulty to make it appropriate for five-year-old rookies as well as seasoned baseball veterans 10 or older. In addition, the game's kid-friendly, non-violent format, and high level of cultural diversity makes it especially popular with parents.

Backyard Baseball 2007 is the latest entry in the Backyard Sports series, the best selling sports video gaming franchise for kids and the only game brand licensed by ALL professional US sports leagues: Major League Baseball, Major League Baseball Players Association, National Football League, NFL Players Inc., National Basketball Association, Major League Soccer, and National Hockey League. According to an independent study, 15 percent of boys in the United States ages five to 10 own at least one Backyard Sports game.

Backyard Baseball 2007 is rated "E" (Everyone) by ESRB and has an MSRP of $29.99 for the PS 2, GameCube, and GBA $19.99 for PC.
