by Rainier on July 11, 2002 @ 6:41 p.m. PDT

Vae Victis Incorporated is pleased to announce its upcoming tactical action game, codenamed Shadow, based on modern military special operations. Players will be immersed in a setting of black operations and clandestine political agendas in a multiplayer environment. Selecting from one of ten different elite Special Forces from around the world including US Navy Seals, UK SAS, and Russian Spetsnaz, players will battle in missions based on actual locations.

Conflicts can take place in expansive outdoors or complex interiors, offering simultaneous long-range and close-quarters battles. Over 50 customizable real-world weapons including combat knives, shotguns, machine guns, and high-precision sniper rifles will be available. Ability to drive up to 15 military vehicles and commandeer civilian or utility transport. A variety of different gameplay modes and many options provide a diverse playing experience.

Project Shadow places a heavy emphasis on realistic effects and a high level of detail to create a believable environment. Building upon the already impressive features of the Torque engine which powers Tribes2, Shadow features new movement abilities, high-resolution textures, S3TC texture compression, bump-mapping, specular mapping, 3D textures, and real-time per-pixel shading and shadows. Players will be able to perform many actions and movements such as lean, crouch, and prone. Lighting and shadows will change dynamically for a more immersive and intense setting that allow players to shoot out lights and watch the incredible effects that flashlights and headlights have on objects as they change in real-time.

The game will be fully customizable where players will be able to create their own maps, models, and missions as well as new game types. Many more features will be announced as the project progresses. Please visit the Vae Victis website for more information.
