Good Old Games Signs Classic Apogee Titles

by Rainier on Feb. 26, 2009 @ 5:58 a.m. PST

Good Old Games announced an agreement with Apogee that will bring several Duke Nukem titles to GOG.com, DRM-free of course, starting with the Duke Nukem 3D ($5.99), followed by Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, Blake Stone: Planet Strike and Rise of the Triad: Dark War in the coming weeks.

The nostalgic thrill-ride begins with today’s release of one of the greatest shooters… no, strike that… one of the greatest games of all time, Duke Nukem 3D, for just $5.99.

Oh, but that’s not all! Apogee keeps bringing the hits, as Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, Blake Stone: Planet Strike and Rise of the Triad: Dark War will be added to the GOG.com catalogue in the coming weeks. As with everything we release at GOG.com, the games are DRM-free, guaranteed to work on Vista and XP and packed with scrumptious bonus materials.

Does Duke really need an intro? The wisecracking intergalactic badass with some sort of invisible woman-magnet inside his chiseled frame is a gaming icon, and Duke Nukem 3D features Duke in his greatest performance yet. Duke returns to Earth after various space-based adventures to find the planet – and Los Angeles in particular – overrun by scum. Alien scum, that is! The only reasonable option he has is to kick some ass, and kick it he does. The game set a new standard for 3D shooters, mixing state-of-the-art visuals with humor and sexually explicit content.

“Duke Nukem 3D at GOG.com? Hell yeah! We're very excited about adding this landmark game to GOG.com,” said Adam Oldakowski, Managing Director of GOG.com. “Apogee’s titles are all top-notch, and we know that our great fan community will love them all.”

“Like Apogee, GOG.com is bringing back legendary titles, not only for the hardcore gamers that made these titles popular, but also for an expanded online community eager to play the classic games that started it all,” says Matt Tolleson, VP of Business Development for Apogee. “Teamed with GOG, Apogee is looking forward to providing a little nostalgia as well as a lot of fun to that community!”

Duke Nukem 3D is now available at GOG.com, with other Apogee titles coming soon. Stay tuned for more news concerning new deals, more new releases and new service features in the upcoming weeks.
