Game Developers Conference - At the Scene of the Crime

by Adam Pavlacka on March 22, 2009 @ 4:07 a.m. PDT

This year's Game Developers Conference doesn't kick off until Monday, but crews are already hard at work at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco getting things set up. Booths are getting built, security is preparing for the onrush of crowds, and game companies galore are polishing up their announcements.

As for what to expect next week, anything’s possible. Will Sony finally announce the long rumored PlayStation 3 price cut? Will 2K Boston give us our first sneak peek at BioShock 2? (They’re hiring like mad next week by-the-way so if you have any interest in working on the next big thing you might want to swing by the conference and drop off a resume, or just send them a copy at Jobs@2KBoston.com) Most importantly, what little nuggets of wisdom will video game luminaries like Shigeru Miyamoto, Hideo Kojima, and I.G.A. have in store for us?

About the only question we can answer right now is telling you that NO, Microsoft will NOT be announcing a Xbox 360 with a built-in Blu-ray drive. Everything else will have to wait until next week. We’ll have a veritable army of editors combing the show floor and scoping out the evening events in order to bring all the latest information straight to you.
