'Halo' Movie Rumored to be Produced by Spielberg

by Rainier on Aug. 8, 2009 @ 7:02 p.m. PDT

Halo, enhanced for play on the PC, contains all the action-packed combat and thrilling gameplay that made it a smash hit. Armed with a new arsenal of weapons and vehicles, Halo delivers challenges and surprises as well as intense online multiplayer competition exclusively for the PC.
The on-again, off-again Halo movie roller coaster is back in the news with IESB claiming that no other than Steven Spielberg is now slated to produce the movie project. Last year Stuart Beattie, known for writing the Pirates of the Caribbean and Gears of War movies, was said to have written a script based on Eric Nylund's first Halo book, The Fall of Reach, which chronicles Master Chief's emergence from the other Spartans which eventually led to the discovery of Halo. Spielberg, who has recently gotten into video games with EA's Boom Blox and is said to be a BioShock fan, was "blown away" by Beattie's script.
