'Caffeine' Gets Split Into Three Episodes

by Rainier on Dec. 12, 2014 @ 2:45 p.m. PST

Caffeine is a sci-fi horror game in which you awaken to find yourself as a young boy on what appears to be some kind of space station or craft seemingly alone. The only thing that can be done is to explore this structure to find out what exactly has happened here.

The Year is 2097, the Earth is over-populated and is lacking resources.

The most consumed drug is caffeine and companies have countless outposts among the stars mining the resources required to quench the endless thirst of Earth's population.

Caffeine will primarily be a Sci-Fi Horror game, but at the same time employ a strong focus on both adventure and narrative and will include some smart puzzle game play. There will be no weapons in Caffeine but you will be able to use the environment around you.

Scattered around the environment there will be a mass of notes, audio logs and clues to what the employees at the station were up to and what was going on in their lives, hopefully creating a great deal of lore for the world of Caffeine.

Incandescent Imaging's Dylan Browne revealed that that he is switching the release structure to an episodic release format and among other things, teasing some platform news.

Caffeine will still only be sold as one unit, but when the later two episodes are released the game will update itself with the new content free of any life sucking charges or fees.

Releasing in an episodic format will allow the developer to get the first one to you sooner rather than later, not only allowing you to experience the first third of the game but also will allow me to tweak the later installments based on your feedback. The story itself up until now has had three distinct sections so the transition to an episodic release will suit the main story and in my opinion make the game better in the long run.

Please stay tuned for a release date window and information on the upcoming alpha access in the coming months, as well as some big “platform” related announcements
