'Friday the 13th: The Game' (ALL) Kickstarter Fully Funded, More Stretch Goals Unveiled

by Rainier on Nov. 11, 2015 @ 11:52 a.m. PST

Friday the 13th: The Game is an online, asymmetric multiplayer experience where one player will assume the role of Jason Voorhees against seven other players assuming the roles of camp counselors trying to survive the night.

Friday the 13th: The Game will deliver a terrifying combination of features designed to satisfy gamers and fans of the Friday the 13th franchise alike. In addition to bringing the tension and horror of the movies to life, the game will also let players don the mask of Jason Voorhees for the first time and control all new levels of brutal action! The development team had earlier collaborated on the unreleased survival horror-themed game Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp and plans to integrate much of that design into the new Friday the 13th game.

The team at Gun Media, IllFonic and Crystal Lake Entertainment are thrilled to announce that its Friday the 13th: The Game kickstarter campaign has been successful and is fully funded with a few days to spare.

“We already had funding to make the original concept of the game,’ said Gun studio head and co-creator Wes Keltner. ‘The moment we became Friday the 13th: The Game, we knew we had a responsibility to give every single Friday the 13th fan (ourselves included), the game we’ve all been waiting for. To do that, Kickstarter was the answer, and fans have delivered!”

“This has been a rollercoaster ride from the start. From announcing Summer Camp, to becoming the official Friday the 13th game, and now we have the backing of a legion of fans? To say I’m excited would be putting it lightly. I’m downright ecstatic!” said Randy Greenback, Executive Director.

“This is a game that pairs well with me like fine wine and a steak or a dead body and a tight crawl space. I'm extremely honored to be working on this game and I can't wait to show everyone how awesome this game truly is. Anyone and everyone who calls themselves a fan of the horror genre will enjoy this game. The weaker minds? Well, they may need to sleep with the lights on for a while…” said Kedhrin Gonzalez, Creative Director, Illfonic Studios.

“The fans of Friday the 13th are a lot like Jason; undying. I’m so thrilled that they stepped up and made this happen. I’ve always said that horror fans are some of the most loyal fans, but this kind of outpouring of support is humbling,” said Sean S. Cunningham, director of the original Friday the 13th movie.

The Kickstarter will officially wrap up on November, Friday the 13th, but the team has several stretch goals planned out, including a single player experience at $1,625,000 and the inclusion of Pamela Voorhees as a killer at $3,775,000!

  • 700,000 - THE GAME IS MADE: The Game is completed as designed, with Jason Voorhees as the featured killer
  • 700,000 - SAVINI'S WORKSHOP: Behind the scenes interview added to the game. Watch Savini, Sultan of Splatter, and his apprentice create an all-new Jason
  • 700,000 - SLEEPING BAG KILL: The famous 'sleeping bag against a tree scene' is added to the game as an environmental kill
  • 725,000 - MIRROR SMASH: Jason gets 7 years of bad luck in the most brutal way possible. The mirror smash environmental kill is added
  • 750,000 - HEAD CRUSH: The glorious 3D headcrush kill is added to the game, complete with pop-out eyeball
  • 775,000 - RIP YOUR HEART OUT: Rip out the hearts of counselors! Jason gets this deadly move added to his arsenal of kills.
  • 875,000 - MANY FACES OF DEATH: 3 new Jason skins from key films in the franchise (Fan Favorites voted on in a backer only poll)

  • 1,050,000 - TWITCH FRENZY: In-Game Twitch Support for easy streaming, viewing and interacting with streams from within the game on PC, PS4 and XBox One
  • 1,075,000 - KNOCK YOUR BLOCK OFF: Back from Part VIII, Jason gets the ability to knock a counselor's head clean off and send it flying
  • 1,150,000 - TOMMY IS BACK!: Tommy Jarvis returns to Crystal Lake to help collect and decipher information about Jason Voorhees!
  • 1,175,000 - BACKBREAKER KILL: Throwback to Friday the 13th Part VI back-crunching kill that hurts to watch
  • 1,200,000 - THROWN OUT THE WINDOW: From Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, this classic kill that featured Tina, will be added to the game as an environmental kill
  • 1,225,000 - THAT'S NOT FLAME RETARDANT: A grislier sleeping bag kill, roasted alive over an open flame. This warm and toasty demise becomes an environmental kill

  • 1,450,000 - EVEN MORE DEATH: Adds 5 more weapons for Jason to use in his kill combos

The development team is also excited to announce a Kickstarter for the upcoming game, designed to expand the scope of the game and give backers the ability to be a part of the franchise forever – by claiming special rewards ranging from early access to the game and unlocking various Jason’s from the films to once-in-a-lifetime access to horror legends and even claiming a role within the game as one of the counselors!
