'Phantom Doctrine' (ALL) Update Adds Player-Based Content Creation Tools

by Rainier on Feb. 26, 2019 @ 10:04 a.m. PST

Phantom Doctrine is a turn-based tactical Cold War espionage game.

Set in 1983 during the Cold War, Phantom Doctrine is an alternate history thriller in which players lead The Cabal, a secret organization dedicated to fighting a global conspiracy committed to controlling the world by pitting world leaders and nations against one another. Deception is the great equalizer as players will have to operate from the shadows to exploit every vulnerability - ruthlessly interrogate and brainwash enemies and allies alike to create double agents, saboteurs or unwitting collaborators.

Develop your base of operations in the shadows, investigating cases, recruit & train agents from the world’s many factions, forging documents and identities, researching new tech, and interrogating and brainwashing enemies for strategic advantage.

Publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment and developer CreativeForge Games have released a new free content update adding customized user content creation support and more to the Cold War thriller strategy game Phantom Doctrine on PC (Steam).

This latest free update for Phantom Doctrine introduces user-based content creation support, letting players alter the foundations of their spy agencies by meddling with the game’s declassified parameter sheets, images and text files to edit existing stories or even create new ones of their very own. The update also includes additional Investigation Board content, improved support for ultrawide resolutions, and a variety of technical fixes and improvements.

In addition, players and double agents can grab Phantom Doctrine on Steam for 50% off from now until Thursday, February 28.

Dive into Phantom Doctrine’s deep single-player mode, which offers players two different campaign backgrounds to choose from: experience its story from the perspective of either a KGB counterintelligence operative or a renegade CIA wet work commando. Phantom Doctrine’s turn-based missions are uniquely designed to encourage player choice – drop your operatives into the field with heavy weapons for an all-out assault, or deploy them with suppressed weapons and cutting-edge spy equipment to complete the mission stealthily. Position assets around the world, infiltrating hot zones with undercover operatives to back you up in a firefight and stay one step ahead of enemy agents.

Decode and analyze your way through immersive investigations to expose far-reaching conspiracies and elusive targets. Delve into the oppressive dark corners of the volatile 1980s with atmospheric visuals and an unnerving soundtrack by the award-winning composer Marcin Przybylowicz, of The Witcher 3 fame.

In addition to its more than 40-hour single-player story mode, players can also challenge rivals around the world in ruthless one-on-one online multiplayer matches, as well as unlock a New Game Plus campaign with additional story content.

Phantom Doctrine is currently available on PS4, Xbox One and PC for $39.99, with a Nintendo Switch version to follow later in 2019.
