'Blood Bowl III' (ALL) Launches Closed Beta, Unveils Elven Union Team - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on June 3, 2021 @ 10:20 a.m. PDT

Blood Bowl III is a turn-based strategy game inspired by American football set in the Warhammer fantasy world.

Strap on your boots, don your helmet, adjust your shoulder guards and chest plate… and slip a sharpened dagger into your belt (it's the rules).

The iconic death sport returns with the new video game of fantasy football faithfully using the latest board game rules and new content. Create your team, then crush, mulch and cheat your way to the top... leaving your opponents in the graveyard.

Blood Bowl III is a videogame of fantasy football where elves, humans, orcs and other creatures fight for the ball with shoulder charges, kicks, punches and weapons of varying degrees of lethality (and legality by the ref). As the coach, you must give instructions to your players: hinder the progress of your opponents by positioning them in your tackle zone, knock down those who get in your way, and break through to your opponents' end zone to score a touchdown!

All your units can gain experience and receive statistic bonuses or new skills. However, be careful: injuries are common, especially when the referee is a goblin who tends to overlook most forms of violence. Some players may even leave the field limp and lifeless, putting an early and definitive end to their careers.

In addition to being able to get their hands on Blood Bowl 3 for the first time, beta players can try out the brand new Black Orcs and Imperial Nobility teams. A third team, the Elven Union, is also available during the beta, which means that players are able to play three completely different type of teams and strategy

In the beta players can create their own teams, take a first look at some of the new customization options, play matches against the AI or against each other (either in local, or online through a matchmaking system).

Blood Bowl 3 and its beta are faithful to the rules of the newest Blood Bowl tabletop edition, which includes for example the addition of the passing ability and the ability to jump over prone players

Good news for those who can't wait to try out Blood Bowl 3, you can register for the closed beta on the official Blood Bowl website and fill out a small questionnaire. If they are selected, a beta code will be sent to their email address. The closed beta will be happening between the 3rd and the 13th of June 2021.

Blood Bowl 3 will be released in early access on PC in September 2021. The final version will be available on PC and consoles in February 2022.

Blood Bowl III is a faithful adaptation of the Games Workshop board game, which is to receive a new edition this year. The game will use the new edition rules, teams (including the new Black Orcs and Imperial Nobility), units and associated skills. The best strategists will obviously be at an advantage, but will that be enough? All it takes is one unfortunate roll of the dice to change the course of a match.

Funnier, bloodier and more spectacular than ever, Blood Bowl III will be a hit with fans of the universe and competitive players alike. At launch, the game will include 12 races, each with their own arena and team of cheerleaders, campaign and multiplayer modes, and loads of customization options. Regular content updates will be added after launch.

Brutal, crazy, tactical… this is BLOOD BOWL!

Blood Bowl III will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch in February 2022.
