Saturnalia And Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus Free On Epic Games Store, Filament And Rising Storm 2: Vietnam Next Week

by Rainier on Oct. 27, 2022 @ 8:23 a.m. PDT

For the next week, the Epic Games Store is offering two titles for free: Saturnalia and Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus.

Saturnalia

Saturnalia is a single-player horror-roguelite set in the Italian region of Sardinia, circa 1989.

A Survival Horror Adventure: as an ensemble cast, explore an isolated village of ancient ritual – its labyrinthine roads change each time you lose all your characters.

A game inspired and heavily influenced by the folklore of Sardinia, Italy (a region rich with unique traditions and culture) where you play as four characters, experiencing a deeply connected storyline that ties back to the haunting traditions of an ancient village.

The village itself is an elaborate maze with no two iterations being precisely the same - you will have to explore and solve the mysteries of the game largely unguided.

Your Weapon? A Box of Matches...

Die, and watch the village reconfigure itself into a new form. Solve puzzles and open shortcuts to new areas with tools and items you find along the way, unlocking every piece of the story with different characters, each with its own power and suited for another aspect of exploration and investigation.

With a limited supply of matches to light your way and darkness encroaching, can you find your way through the fog to reveal the truth? Or will you be engulfed by the secrets this town doesn’t want you to know?

Once Saturnalia and Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus, the current free games on the Epic Games Store, have run their course, it will be up to Filament and Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, which will be gratis starting November 3 until November 10, 2022.

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam

Red Orchestra Series' take on Vietnam: 64-player MP matches; 20+ maps; US Army & Marines, PAVN/NVA, NLF/VC; Australians and ARVN forces; 50+ weapons; 4 flyable helicopters; mines, traps and tunnels; Brutal. Authentic. Gritty. Character customization.

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam moves the FPS series to the Vietnam War, where American and Vietnamese forces square off in a whole new generation of warfare.

For the first time, the authentic gunplay and visceral first-person action of the Red Orchestra series is coming to an era of automatic rifles, man-portable grenade launchers and more modern weapons systems. Rising Storm 2: Vietnam casts players into a brutal, authentic recreation of the Vietnam War.

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam offers intense action for up to 64 players in battles between the forces of South Vietnam (the US and their Allies) and those of the North - the regular, main-force units of North Vietnamese Army, plus the guerilla fighters of the National Liberation Front (or Viet Cong).

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam looks to once again raise the bar and move the series into a new era of combat.

Filament

Filament is a story-rich and fully narrated puzzle game centered around solving sets of cable-based puzzles whilst exploring a seemingly abandoned spaceship.

Filament takes place aboard The Alabaster, one of The Filament Corporation’s flagship research vessels. You must try to wrestle control back from a mysterious complication which left the ship locked down and the crew missing.

With only the help of Juniper, the ships stricken pilot, face over 300 fiendishly difficult puzzles that will push your wits to the limit in a bid to uncover what happened to the crew and why they disappeared.

Search crew logs, messages, records and personal items found around the ship on your quest for the truth as to what has happened aboard The Alabaster. Learn who the crew were, and maybe in doing so, find out why they left.

A single-player game with complex, yet ultra-addictive puzzles, challenge yourself to board the Alabaster, then challenge yourself to leave.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus

Mechanicus puts you in control of an array of Adeptus Mechanicus forces for the first time ever as you lead your priests and troops on a tactical quest to salvage ancient technologies from the mysterious Necron tomb of the planet Silva Tenebris. As Magos Dominus Faustinius of Mars, your every decision will shape the missions ahead and have far reaching consequences for you and your team.

In-game, Mechanicus will enable you to overcome these ‘human weaknesses’ to upgrade your troops with augments that will replace their human limbs with bionics and mechadendrites. These will provide mechanical and tactical advantages as you progress throughout the game.

Your every decision will shape the missions ahead and ultimately decide the fate of the troops under your command. However, choose your path carefully - the Imperium depends on it.
