6. 'Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes' (PS3/X360)

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is a stealth action game, the first open-world installment in the franchise, set following the events of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and featuring Big Boss as the protagonist.

Reggie Carolipio: Breaking the relatively closed mold of MGS into an open world sounds like a risky decision, but after building my own base and filling it with mercs in Peace Walker, it always felt like it was only inches away from doing just that. Hideo Kojima couldn't have picked a more appropriate title for this chapter of MGS. He's always tried to surprise his audience with new tricks, whether they're buried in the tech or the gameplay, so I can't wait to see just how far his vision for MGS is going to reach — and how big an impact it will have on the future of the series.

Chris "Atom" DeAngelus: If Metal Gear Rising: Revengence is the Cyborg Ninja game everyone has been waiting for, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is the Snake game that goes along with it. Returning to longtime protagonist-slash-antagonist Big Boss (AKA Naked Snake), Ground Zeroes looks to take Metal Gear in a more open-world direction. The return of Mother Base from Peace Walker combines with large, open environments to allow Big Boss to approach (and avoid) enemies in ways he never could do before. Information on this one is still scarce, but with Hideo Kojima at the helm, there's a lot to look forward to.

Brian Dumlao: Another title that has us wondering if it'll be destined for current- or next-gen platforms. While the thought of another Kojima-helmed Metal Gear will have people believing that he'll never leave the franchise, the focus on filling in parts of what is supposedly Big Boss' story beyond Peace Walker should prove fascinating. The only thing left to wonder is whether it'll be more action-heavy like Peace Walker or more cut scene-heavy like MGS4.

Erik "NekoIncardine" Ottosen: Kojima Productions is practically Konami's flagship nowadays. It seems like all the best stuff Konami does that isn't made for the arcade comes from this production team. The sub-lineage of base-building-and-stealth entries that started a little haltingly with Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and hit its stride with Peace Walker is back with Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, which returns to the story of Big Boss and introduces what could be one of the more interesting smartphone integrations yet, along with a hybrid-real-time day/night cycle. All this, and it uses the Fox engine that was originally going to be the base for what is now Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. There's a lot of potential to be had here.
