'Deceit 2' Goes Free To Play, Gets Werewolf Pack And Comes To PlayStation and Xbox In April - Trailer

by Rainier on March 13, 2024 @ 6:00 a.m. PDT

Deceit 2 will be an evolution for asymmetric horror gameplay, bringing players an authentic terrifying atmosphere that permeates every aspect of the game.

Featuring new items, nine-player matches, and overhauled gameplay; Deceit 2 is a fully engrossing and truly terrifying multiplayer game where only the sane will survive.

Deceit 2 will feature a massive overhaul of gameplay mechanics that will create a more tense and suspicious atmosphere for players as they attempt to figure out who among their friends is the Infected Terror stalking them. Combat will feature new items and abilities to empower the innocents as they defend themselves against the Infected, as well as interactive maps that create more intense chases.

Deceit 2 will also offer narrative content to fans featuring new and returning characters from the original Deceit, following the story of a mysterious ritual with blood and subterfuge in a multidimensional fight to survive.

The game’s visuals also receive a huge makeover thanks to Unreal Engine 5, featuring more detailed characters and horrifying monstrosities, as well as higher-fidelity textures in maps.

Player count has been upgraded to 9 players, offering more opportunities for strategy, but more chances that someone might be the Infected too. Players will also be able to trade with a new character “The Peddler” for weapons, items, and clues on Infected players.

World Makers is excited to announce that the PC relaunch of their social deduction thriller, Deceit 2, is live today!

Originally launching in September 2023, the World Makers team has been actively listening to their community, making changes and improvements not only to the game but also to the price: Deceit 2 shifts to a free-to-play model for today’s relaunch to welcome more players into the Ritual, and announces its arrival on PlayStation and Xbox on April 3rd!

Coinciding with today’s release, the game receives its first premium content expansion, the Werewolf Pack, containing a new Terror, player role, item, and map.

“It wasn’t an easy decision moving to a free-to-play model, but we think it’s the right call to reduce the barrier to entry and make sure more people can enjoy Deceit 2,” says James Thompson, CEO at World Makers. “For those players who have already purchased the game ahead of the free-to-play relaunch, we’ll be providing the Werewolf DLC, 3 Crypt Keys, in-game currency, and a Season One Pass for free to express our appreciation for their early and continued support.”

The Werewolf DLC includes the Wyrtorn Terror, a werewolf, and the first Terror to be added since the game’s initial launch. It will also include The Chemist role, a neutral Curse that must poison all other members of the group to win the Ritual. A new map, Project Wurgen, will also be available, set in a corrupt facility that bore witness to many inhumane experiments on animals which led to the creation of the Wyrtorn. This new location will be available for free to all players, so you can party up with anyone no matter if they own the expansion or not.

The new free-to-play era of Deceit 2 also introduces Seasons, events that will bring many new unlockables to reward playtime. The Pre-Season is now live in the game, and Season One, titled “Humble Beginnings”, kicks off on April 3rd and adds skins, loading screens, and more. The first batch of rewards lands on the event kick-off, with the rest coming shortly thereafter. You should also keep an eye out for an Easter-themed event - coming soon! New seasons are scheduled every two months, and will always feature new reasons to come back to the terror!

Those who purchased the game ahead of the free-to-play conversion will receive the Werewolf DLC, 3 Crypt Keys, in-game currency, and the Season One Pass for free at launch.

Key Features:

  • New Next-Gen Visuals: All-new visually stunning characters and maps built completely from the ground up for modern platforms in Unreal Engine 5.
