'Company of Heroes' Wins Two ELAN Awards

by Rainier on Feb. 20, 2008 @ 4:19 p.m. PST

In Company of Heroes gamers will experience the journey of the brave men of Able Company in a deep single-player campaign that begins with the invasion of Normandy through their fight across Europe, all set against the most dynamic battlefield ever seen in a game. Company of Heroes' completely destructable environment means no two battles ever play out in the same way. Advanced squad AI delivers startling new realism and responsiveness, bringing soldiers to life as they interact with the environment and execute advanced squad tactics to eliminate the opposition forces.

The Elan Awards honor Canadian industry professionals and students, in several categories spanning the Video Game, Animation and Digital Arts Entertainment Industries.

These awards join the Company of Heroes’ long list of accolades, which include “Best PC Game”, “Game of the Year”, and “Best Strategy Game” awards from several leading game publications worldwide. Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, a stand alone companion product to the highly-rated Company of Heroes, won for “Outstanding Innovation in Gaming”. One of only two awards open to worldwide competition, the innovation award is bestowed upon a game that advances game development technically or creatively, or by establishing an entirely new genre.

"We are very proud to have been recognized by the Elan's for the hard work and craftsmanship our teams put into the Company of Heroes and Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts titles," said Tarrnie Williams, General Manager of Relic Entertainment. “We continue our focus of innovating and expanding upon the RTS genre through original and licensed games, to produce more great games in the future.”
