'Dolmen' (ALL) Re-Launches Kickstarter Campaign - Trailer

by Rainier on Aug. 30, 2018 @ 2:19 p.m. PDT

Dolmen is a third-person action/RPG, where sci-fi and cosmic horror have mixed in an engrossing gameplay experience!

In Dolmen you will be introduced to the alien world of Revion Prime, as the only survivor of a crew of astronauts, abducted in a distant future. Adaptation and exploration will be your main weapons.

Would you kill a world to survive? The answer of the aliens called Nikiderma to this question was felt for millions of lives, launched to the stars that warmed their planets, in a terrible massacre. But none of these places have ever lived what they did to Revion Prime. No human has ever crossed this line. Let’s stay on our cozy beds: These are unimaginable experiences to a mind of an earthling. But it was not like that. We’ve decided to go to outer space. And unfortunately we’ve discovered that the worst part of it has also decided to meet us…

The exact location is a mystery. The star maps were lost and after the Nikiderma invaded it, very little can be said about that planet. Its star is called Nynfeid. As neighbors, it has four gas giants. The corpses of its people were expelled from its atmosphere, so their mass decomposition wouldn’t alter the ecosystem.

Being alone in Revion Prime is like having been forgotten by life. But today, something extraordinary is about to happen. An earthling wanders through that unwelcoming environment . As he stood up, he had no idea where was his crew was or why he got there. For what reason was he the last to be awaken from cryogenic slumber? What went wrong with the mission? With no answers and no hope, looking for the others could be his last choice…

Massive Work Studio has had a busy week, going from debuting their latest Dolmen demo build at Gamescom 2018 to the games official reboot on Kickstarter today. Big plans are on the horizon for DOLMEN, and they're asking for support from the gaming community to bring them to fruition.

“For our Kickstarter Reboot, we are asking for 15K USD as a base goal because we want to bring DOLMEN from its current alpha build to a full-fledged polished ‘Open Beta’ build on Windows PC via Steam. Chapter 1 with an estimated 6 hours of gameplay, will be a truly 'xenomorphic' map full of monsters, challenges, various equipment, and plot," stated Producer Pedro Bastos.

"Our team has so much more content in the making! More levels, stories and even bigger creatures and weapons!  With this proof of concept we also want DOLMEN to obtain support from a publisher and reach multiple platforms (PS4, Xbox) and support additional gameplay modes (here's a spoiler: Multiplayer/Co-Op!) We have a ton of new ideas and concepts for DOLMEN, and with your support, we can make them a reality!” Bastos continued.

“Where Stars Bleed is our first chapter on the world of Revion Prime, What you should expect from Chapter 1 is around 4-6 hours of gameplay, 2 Unique Bosses, Champions and 5 unique types of enemies that each have different fighting styles and hierarchies, 2 Armour sets that can be upgraded and customized to change the way you play DOLMEN. Each Tier of armor will come with different visuals and higher stats than its predecessor."

There will be 5 Melee weapons combined with 3 different shields you will use to face the foes of Revion Prime, Your melee weapons will be complemented by 3 different Ranged weapons each varying in how they compliment your time in Revion Prime.  There will be 2 different Reactors for you to use in DOLMEN and these will affect how you play the game.” -- Pedro Bastos, Producer

The Dolmen’s story may be comprehended as an investigation focusing the past and present of an alien planet as seen through the eyes of a human being. Although his original task was very different from this, he has been brought to a place never seen before, with no resources and unprepared for what he will find there. Exploration and adaptability shall be used to unveil some truth about what really happened to him.

That’s when the game begins. In a dark place, miles away from the surface of that strange planet, inside the caves which once were part of an evolved society. A society that no longer exists. There’s just a lonely person, from the distant Earth, trying to be part of that place to survive it. He’s the only witness to what’s left of something he may never completely understand completely. But he must either try or become a part of its remains. There’s no option.

Since the history of the human race is based on evolution and the ability to endure suffering, maybe he will triumph against adversity. Or maybe he won’t.

Key Features:

  • Explore a Devastated, Darkly Beautiful Planet: Revion Prime is an alien world, with environments inspired by the work of macabre artists like H.R. Giger and H.P. Lovecraft, that challenges you to unearth its dark history by connecting fragments of the past.
  • Engage in Fast-Paced Dynamic Combat: Combat is intense and heavily based on timing, mixing melee-based attacks, Over-the-Shoulder (OTS) perspective long-range shooting and the use of defensive maneuvers such as dodging and blocking.
  • Adapt or Perish; Craft to Survive: Mankind, so we believe, has become a prevalent species due to its ability to endure and adapt to inhospitable environments. Build up your skills and scavenge what little resources are available to create items and customize your equipment. You’re going to need anything you can find to live to see another day.

Dolmen is currently targeting an early 2019 release on Steam, with console versions planned for a later date.
