'Borderlands' (ALL) 10th Anniversary Celebration Continues with Show Me the Eridium Event

by Rainier on Oct. 14, 2019 @ 1:00 p.m. PDT

Borderlands 3 is a story-driven, non-stop galactic thrill-ride, filled with colorful characters, epic enemies and boss fights, and literally billions of guns.

Blast through new worlds and enemies as one of four brand new Vault Hunters – the ultimate treasure-seeking badasses of the Borderlands, each with deep skill trees, abilities, and customization.

Play solo or join with friends to take on insane enemies, collect bazillions of guns and loads of loot, and save your home from the most ruthless cult leaders in the galaxy – the Calypso Twins.

The franchise, which combines the exhilarating action of a first-person shooter with the rich progression and loot systems of a role-playing game, has sold-in more than 41 million units worldwide to date. The most popular title in the series – Borderlands 2 – still draws in more than one million unique monthly users more than six years after the game’s initial release in 2012.

This month, it will have been 10 years since the original Borderlands debuted on October 20, 2009, and we're showing our appreciation for a full decade of support with a five-week Borderlands Anniversary Celebration. For the entire month of October (and a little bit of November), Borderlands 3 Vault Hunters of all levels can score extra in-game loot and bonuses.

We're continuing to celebrate Borderlands' 10-year anniversary with another week of in-game bonuses for Borderlands 3.

This week’s event: Show Me the Eridium!

For the duration of this event, Eridium drops will be added to standard enemies, Eridium drops in Mayhem Mode will be increased, Moxxi's Vault Line slot machine will cost less Eridium to play, and all the cosmetic items and Anointed weapons at Crazy Earl's hideout in the Cargo Bay of Sanctuary III will be discounted. (In case you haven't done business with Crazy Earl before, he’s the only vendor who deals in Eridium, the special currency earned exclusively through gameplay.)

Please note that in order to smash apart Eridium deposits and collect the shards, you’ll need the Eridium Resonator, an artifact you’ll naturally obtain as you play through the story missions leading up to Eden-6. Once you’ve earned it, your melee strikes will be powerful enough to shatter Eridium chunks apart for collection.

The “Show Me the Eridium” event will begin via micropatch by or before 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, October 15. You'll receive an in-game notification if you're playing while the micropatch goes live. To ensure that the micropatch is successfully applied, verify that you're online, then simply remain in the main menu for a minute or two.

“Show Me the Eridium” will run from October 15 to October 22, when the next week’s theme begins. The remaining Borderlands Anniversary Celebration calendar is below, and if you want to know what this month of Borderlands 3 bonuses is all about, you can catch up here.

  • Week 3 (October 15-22): Show Me the Eridium!
  • Week 4 (October 22-29): Mayhem on Twitch!
  • Week 5 (October 29 - November 4): Spooky Surprise!

We'll be unveiling all the bonuses for each week’s theme every Monday this coming month, so be sure to check back to see what's in store for the Borderlands Anniversary Celebration.

Developed from the ground up with AMD, Borderlands 3 will take full advantage of the most powerful PC hardware available, and is optimized for top performance and incredible gaming experiences on AMD Radeon graphics cards and Ryzen CPUs.

Borderlands 3 is available worldwide on PS4, Xbox One and PC (Epic Games store with additional PC digital storefronts in April 2020).
