'Apex Legends' (ALL) Season 1: Wild Frontier Brings Battle Pass, New Legend And More - Trailer

by Rainier on March 19, 2019 @ 5:41 p.m. PDT

Set in the Titanfall universe, Apex Legends is a free to play battle royale game with a cast of unique characters, squad-based gameplay, innovative mechanics and more.

Apex Legends delivers a squad-based battle royale experience with a uniquely Respawn flavor. Players will select from one of eight Legends - each with their own unique abilities and playstyles - and the last team standing wins. Combatants can choose from unique characters like Bloodhound, the tracker who can see recent enemy activity on the map, or Lifeline, a battlefield medic who can shield teammates and bring them back from the brink of death. Balanced squads and teamwork are critical, as each Legend is easy to pick up and learn, but challenging to master.

Apex Legends showcases several new genre-leading innovations, starting before players even start the match. Once players are ready to begin, they’ll choose their drop point with the Jumpmaster system, giving each squad full control over exactly where they drop in. Is it smarter to head straight for the most valuable loot and risk early conflict with other teams, or make for one of the outlying areas to plot an attack and let other squads pick each other off?

The Apex Games are about to get a little wilder. The inaugural season of Apex Legends™ starts today on PlayStation®4, Xbox One and PC via Origin, and it’s dropping Legends, unique rewards, and the first Battle Pass into the arena.

Wild Frontier kicks off with the arrival of Octane, an adrenaline junkie looking for a rush. He never has to slow down with his unmatched speed and self-heal, and his Launch Pad Ultimate Ability lets him take down his opponents from above. In the Legend’s own words, “By the time you see me coming, I’ll be going, and you’ll be gone.” See the man in action in his character video, who can be unlocked via 12,000 Legends Tokens or 750 Apex Coins in the game.

The Wild Frontier Battle Pass is available now for 950 Apex Coins. Every level gained unlocks another level in the Battle Pass and the rewards that come with it. This season, players can earn over 100 items like Legend skins, Apex Coins, a legendary Havoc skin, and more. Players can also get the Battle Pass Bundle, which instantly unlocks the Battle Pass and the first 25 levels of the 100 available in Season 1, for 2,800 Apex Coins. Players who choose to purchase the Battle Pass Bundle later in the season will keep all their progress, as well as instantly unlock the rewards for the next 25 levels.

That’s not all, as players can also expect to find more surprises hiding in the shadows as the Apex Games heat up!

The innovations don’t stop there as Apex Legends also delivers Respawn Beacons, one-time use locations where defeated teammates can be revived, a contextual Ping communication system that allows players to call out enemies, weapons, locations and more with the push of a button, and an intelligent inventory system which automatically attaches gear and equipment to the appropriate weapons once players pick them up. All together it creates a battle royale experience unlike any other, complete with Respawn’s commitment to top-notch quality and fun.

The first season of Apex Legends is scheduled to kick off in March and will give players the opportunity to purchase a Battle Pass to gain access to exclusive cosmetic items earned through gameplay. Apex Legends will follow a seasonal model with each themed season bringing new content to the game in the form of new weapons, new Legends, new skins and more.

Apex Legends is now available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
