'Control' (ALL) Gets Ultimate Edition, First On Steam - Trailer

by Rainier on Aug. 12, 2020 @ 10:50 a.m. PDT

Control (formerly known as P7) is a third-person action-adventure game combining Remedy’s trademark gunplay with supernatural abilities.

Control is set in a unique and ever-changing world that juxtaposes our familiar reality with the strange and explainable.

Welcome to the Federal Bureau of Control

After a secretive agency in New York is invaded by an otherworldly threat, players will take on the role of Jesse Faden, the new Director struggling to regain Control. This sandbox-style, gameplay-driven experience built on the proprietary Northlight engine challenges players to master a combination of supernatural abilities, modifiable loadouts and reactive environments while fighting through the deep and mysterious worlds Remedy is known and loved for.

505 Games and Remedy Entertainment will make Control available to players on Steam for the first time with Control Ultimate Edition, launching digitally worldwide on Thursday, August 27 packed with the original game and all expansions, including the forthcoming AWE expansion, at the supernatural price of £29.99.

Control Ultimate Edition will become available on PC from the Epic Games Store and digitally for PS4 and Xbox One consoles on Thursday, September 10 followed by a physical retail release for PS4 and Xbox One at a later date. Players who purchase Control Ultimate Edition for PS4 or Xbox One will automatically receive a complimentary next-gen optimized version of Control Ultimate Edition when transitioning to PS5 or Xbox Series X.

AWE is the second and final expansion for Control, coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on August 27, 2020.

AWE will take Bureau Director Jesse Faden to the Investigations Sector of the Oldest House, where the Federal Bureau of Control closely examines Altered World Events (AWE) – happenings where paranatural forces breach our world with sometimes grave consequences. The expansion, which becomes available following the completion of the seventh main mission (“The Face of the Enemy”) in the campaign, will require players enter the Investigations Sector and confront the creature lurking within this long-abandoned part of the Bureau. To reclaim the Investigations Sector from its clutches, Jesse will need to explore the Altered World Events investigated here, including one from the town of Bright Falls where Jesse learns more about the disappearance of the writer Alan Wake.

Players who own the Digital Deluxe version of Control for PlayStation 4 and season pass holders on all platforms will automatically receive The AWE expansion on August 27. Players who own the base game for PC, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One can purchase the expansion season pass for $24.99, providing access to the previously released expansion immediately, The Foundation, along with AWE when it releases on August 27. Expansions can also be purchased a la carte on all platforms available for $14.99 each.

Players and fans can join Remedy Entertainment’s Creative Director Sam Lake and Control Game Director Mikael Kasurinen live on Twitch Thursday, August 13 at 9:00 a.m. PST where the two will offer an exclusive first look at the opening 15-minutes of AWE gameplay and explore the studio’s approach to storytelling, touching upon the “Remedy Connected Universe”. The stream will be hosted by Remedy’s community manager Vida Starčević.

Award-winning composer Martin Stig Andersen (INSIDE, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus) and BAFTA-nominated composer Petri Alanko (Alan Wake, Quantum Break) are creating the score for supernatural action-adventure game Control.

Combining Andersen’s experience with creating eerie compositions with Alanko’s unique blend of orchestral and electronic arrangements, the renowned duo is joining forces to form an otherworldly soundscape for Control’s mysterious world. Control’s score is being carefully crafted to back an ever-changing world that juxtaposes reality with the unexplainable. Andersen and Alanko’s scores will mirror Control’s dynamic gameplay elements by evolving around the game’s moments of stirring surrealism and fierce action.

Key Features:

  • WORLD WITHIN A LOCATION: Explore diverse environments and shifting architecture in a deep unpredictable world, set within a sprawling New York building.
