'Revita' Early Access Update Adds New Area, Weapons And More, Full Launch Delayed Until 2022 - Trailer

by Rainier on Nov. 24, 2021 @ 8:00 a.m. PST

Revita is a charming twin stick roguelite which sets up agile, air-dashing firefights throughout the floors of a mysterious clocktower.

In this fast paced twin-stick roguelite platformer, you play as an unnamed child ascending an ominous clocktower in pursuit of their lost memories. Harvest and sacrifice souls to grow your power in order to challenge procedural encounter rooms and intimidating bosses!

In Revita, players must climb an ominous clock tower through a series of procedural encounter rooms and clear challenging boss fights on their way to reclaiming their lost memory. Along the way players will be able to trade health for randomized upgrades as the game dares them to live on a knife-edge.

Find the right balance of attack and defense as you try, die, repeat and progress up the tower. Battle through an almost infinite variety of combat encounters in procedurally generated rooms. Twin stick shooting, dashing and wall sliding are just the beginning - find power-ups and items on each run and upgrade your arsenal.

An extensive set of options lets you tweak Revita to your playstyle - slow down time, set an outline colour for enemies to make them easier to track or choose the level of aim assist that feels right for you.

Explore an underground subway line infested with monsters and filled with colourful characters who will help you on your journey. Travelling from station to station where elevators take you towards the heights of an ever changing clocktower.

Solo dev BenStar, working in partnership with publisher Dear Villagers has released the penultimate Steam Early Access update for Revita, before the title fully launches next year.

The massive ‘Old Friends’ update brings a whole new area, five new starting guns (additionally to the one already existing), new relics, new celestial weapons, enemies, NPCs, area modifiers and much more to Revita’s sprawling clocktower world.

Alongside the update, BenStar has also updated the content roadmap showing his ambitions for Revita. All that remains now is the launch update, scheduled to go out alongside the final release in 2022

‘The Old Friends’ update features:

  • New heights: Enter level five of the clocktower, battling your way towards the top with higher-than-ever stakes.
  • New dangers: Face a fresh crop of enemies and survive challenging environmental perils - flash floods and more
  • New choices: Discover an extra room in the station at the clocktower’s base, and choose from five different starting guns.
  • New solutions: BenStar has overhauled the health balancing in Revita, giving first time players an easier introduction to the series.
  • Old friends: Dive ever deeper into the enigmatic world of Revita, with an expanded cast and some jammin’ additions to the soundtrack.

"While the Old Friends update is massive and I’m super proud of it, it isn’t the end of the story by a long shot," says Benjamin Kiefer, the solo dev behind Revita. "There’s still the launch update left to go - I can’t wait for everyone to see the finished game in all its glory."
