'Black Desert Online' Plans To Add Its First Ever Co-Op Dungeon Across All Platforms This Summer - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on June 2, 2021 @ 11:27 a.m. PDT

Black Desert Online is an open-world action MMORPG with next-generation visuals and skill-based combat that rejuvenates the genre.

With the deepest character customization of any game currently on the market, Black Desert Online allows for unprecedented detail in character creation. Its intuitive controls, beautifully designed world, and extensive lore will enthrall both newcomers and veterans of MMO games and action RPGs.

Travel through the lands in search of treasure and adventure or become one of the top craftsmen in the land. Set up trade routes and breed horses or compete against other guilds in epic siege warfare.

Pearl Abyss announced that Atoraxxion, the first co-op dungeon, will be available for both Black Desert Online and Black Desert Console this summer.

Atoraxxion is the game’s first co-op dungeon, creating an all-new experience and need for player co-operation to a degree never before seen in the game. The dungeon will be released in four themed parts -- the first, Vahmalkea, will be available soon. Although Atoraxxion is a dungeon, its size is almost comparable to a whole region. In it, Adventurers will experience features of a classic video game dungeon, ranging from puzzles to exploration and boss combat.

Lore

Atoraxxion was built by the “Sage of the Past,” Rux Maha Dehkia as a base to build an army of Ancient Weapons to repel the Black Spirit. As Rux couldn’t foretell from which realm the Black Spirits would strike, he had to consider millions of variables and prepare for multiple scenarios. That is why he enlisted the help of four apprentices who would take care of the Atoraxxion stronghold, continue weapons research and run experiments while the facility would be sealed away.

However, Rux’s apprentices were soon entangled in each other’s lives, an emotional variable that Rux failed to anticipate. The conflict eventually led to a great storm of chaos that engulfed Atoraxxion and threw the once prosperous stronghold into decline. That is, until a new era began. Adventurers will soon find out that The Last Stronghold includes a facility to test Ancient Weapons’ combat capabilities in a variety of environments to prepare them for any situation.

Scaling Difficulty

The Atoraxxion questline is one rich with lore and immersive experiences and the dungeon itself is divided into four themed parts: desert, ocean, canyon, and forest. The dungeon’s difficulty will increase with each part’s release and differs according to one’s server or platform. Players on the Elvia servers will face a higher difficulty and require AP 280 / DP 340 to stand a chance. Players on the normal server will get a normal difficulty and can face this new challenge with Narchillan gear or the seasonal Tuvala gear, builds that provide AP 250 / DP 300. Console players will also get a normal difficulty level.
