'Fortnite' Brings Back Web Shorts With Short Nite In-Game Event

by Rainier on July 20, 2021 @ 12:03 p.m. PDT

Fortnite is an expansive original world that invites players to be creative, resourceful and collaborative, combining building skills and destructible environments with intense PvP combat.

In Fortnite, players and their friends lead a group of Heroes to reclaim and rebuild a homeland that has been left empty by a mysterious darkness only known as “the Storm.”

Players will band together online to explore the world for resources, build extravagant forts, find or build insane weapons and traps as they protect their towns from the strange monsters that emerge during the Storm.

Fortnite Battle Royale is the FREE 100-player PvP mode in Fortnite. One giant map. A battle bus.

The last one standing wins.

Short Nite is back! This time, join your friends in Party Royale for a series of animated, online shorts by up-and-coming-creators. Included is the world premiere of the next entry of the popular Gildedguy series!

The event kicks off on Friday, July 23, 2021, at 2 PM ET. If you can't make the debut, the short films will continue to play non-stop until 2 PM ET on July 25.

This latest Short Nite includes a variety of shorts that are comedic, rhythmic, and action-packed. Included in the schedule are two shorts from the full-of-action Gildedguy saga, including the world premiere of the next entry Gildedguy Gets Up! (featuring music by Emma Stevens).

The total runtime of the shorts is about 40 minutes, and the show will run non-stop for 48 hours. (So jump in whenever you want!) If you’re new to Party Royale, check out our guide for getting to the Big Screen. Players will also have the option to watch Short Nite 2 in standard Battle Royale via Picture-in-Picture, available during certain times of the event and accessible through the settings.

In celebration of the Gildedguy Gets Up! premiere in Short Nite 2, Gildedguy is joining the fight on the Fortnite Island. No stranger to battling, Gildedguy will be available in the Fortnite Item Shop starting July 22 at 8 PM ET alongside the new Slush Fighter Cape Back Bling and Stellapen Smashpack Pickaxe!

For the shorts that contain dialogue, you’ll be able to watch them with subtitles in your preferred language. If you want to watch with subtitles, be sure to enable subtitles in the Audio Settings.

And as a heads-up for Content Creators, just like with any theater, there’s no recording of these shorts during the event. Instead, invite your fans to watch in-game live! Any streams or VODs of these films (whether from Party Royale or via Picture-in-Picture) will be removed per content protection rules.

Fortnite is currently available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Android and iOS.
