Fire up Star-Lord's jet boots for a wild ride across the cosmos in this fresh take on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. With the unpredictable Guardians at your side, blast your way from one explosive situation to another, with both original and well-known Marvel characters caught in a struggle for the fate of the universe. You got this. Probably.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is created by the seasoned Eidos-Montréal team, working closely with Marvel Entertainment to provide an original and authentic experience inspired by over 50 years of Guardians of the Galaxy lore. Influenced by the comics, this spin on the Guardians of the Galaxy takes players on a riotous journey across the stars as Peter Quill and the Guardians unintentionally become the galaxy's first and last line of defense.

In the game's universe, Star-Lord started the Guardians to sell their services as heroes-for-hire, and convinced Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot to join him along the way. The promise of adventure and profit was exactly what they were looking for. They even have a business card to prove it!!

Eidos-Montréal has released a new trailer detailing the out-of-this-world narrative adventure that awaits in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy story takes place twelve years after an epic conflict known as the Galactic War swept through the cosmos. Star-Lord recently formed the Guardians of the Galaxy, they’ve been together for less than a year. He started the group as heroes-for-hire, seeing opportunity for adventure and profit in a universe that’s still recovering from the War.

Unfortunately, at the beginning of the game, they inadvertently set off a series of catastrophic events, that enables a grand organization known as the Universal Church of Truth to rise to prominence and begin to threaten the universe. They’re intent on bringing their so-called “Promise” to the galaxy, which according to them, will bring back everything that was lost in the Galactic War. Yeah, that’s pretty suspicious.

As the Guardians come upon the full force of the Church, they realize that they’ll need to step up when no one else will. They’re a small team and they’re still coming together, so they’re going to need a lot of allies along the way. This is where Cosmo, one of the really fun characters in our game, gets involved. He is a dog that is also an extremely powerful telepath, which allowed him to become the head of security of Knowhere.

Keeping Knowhere safe and operating smoothly isn’t just a job for Cosmo, and he feels strongly about his responsibility to the people living on the station. The Church is an obvious threat to the safety of Knowhere, so he’ll help the Guardians on their way to investigate the Church and the source of their power.

On their adventure, the Guardians will also come across the Nova Corps, a space militia that maintains peace in the galaxy. They’re headed by the Worldmind, a massive supercomputer composed of the minds and memories of the entire Xandar civilization. As the Guardians will find out, getting the Worldmind to help them isn’t going to be as straightforward as they expected…

In the trailer, you may have also noticed Star-Lord’s elemental blasters transforming. They’re very special as they’re tied to his DNA, they’re connected to him. Over the course of the story, he begins to realize that this connection enables him to transform the blasters according to his needs – which will unlock various elements that you can use to your advantage in combat and exploration.

In the new trailer, Grand Unifier Raker brings Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket and Groot to the Universal Church of Truth, where the Guardians bear witness to a cult-like ritual before the mysterious Matriarch. Grand Unifier Raker states that the Matriarch wishes to share with them a truth — one that can supposedly end all grief and suffering. In true Guardians’ fashion, things go spectacularly sideways and they somehow manage to get half the galaxy on their back... The Guardians will have to step up and show what they are made of to save the Galaxy.

The video also features appearances by characters including the Xandarian Worldmind, as well as everyone’s favorite telepathic Russian space dog, Cosmo.

Moreover, the trailer’s action is amplified by the sounds of a new track from the Star-Lord Band, titled “Space Riders (With No Names)”, which is available now in digital music stores. In the Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy universe, Star-Lord is the name of Peter Quill’s favorite rock band, which eventually inspires his iconic moniker.

At the beginning of the game, they trigger a chain reaction of catastrophic events, which will eventually put the fate of the universe at stake. Obviously, preventing intergalactic annihilation was never part of the plan. But they (and you) got this. Probably.

Master Star-Lord's dynamic combat style to obliterate foes with his Element Blasters and call on the abilities of each Guardian to defeat a variety of interplanetary enemies. Also, as self-proclaimed leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, players engage in select player-choice driven dialogue and interactions between Quill and the Guardians that further strengthens the bonds within this dysfunctional family.

With Rocket, Groot, Gamora and Drax always around you, you can expect a lot of laughs and touching moments - our writing team had tons of fun. But in true Guardians spirit, we also wanted to capture what it’s like for a ragtag group of misfits to become family. Making those personalities collide, fight and come together… there’s going to be some real drama as well.

But even when the odds are stacked against them, the Guardians never back down.

Finally, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy wouldn't be complete without a killer soundtrack to rock out to while soaring through space in the Milano. There's Iron Maiden, KISS, New Kids On The Block, Rick Astley and more. But it doesn’t stop there and Square Enix/Eidos-Montréal will have more to say about the music in our game soon! The game is jam-packed with classic 1980s hits and kicking original tracks.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy launches on Nintendo Switch (Cloud Edition) PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC on Oct. 26, 2021.
