'MLB The Show 22' Adds Simultaneous Online Co-op Play, Playtest Next Week - Trailer

by Rainier on Feb. 15, 2022 @ 10:11 a.m. PST

Take your Ballplayer across game modes to own every at-bat, every pitch, and every play and now you have even more ways to play than ever before.

Shohei Ohtani’s 2021 season was one for the ages. Hitting 46 home runs, 100 RBI’s, and stealing 26 bases while also having a 9-2 record on the mound with a 3.18 ERA and 156 strikeouts. It has been said, “The man on top of the mountain didn’t fall there.” Ohtani might seem like an overnight success here in the US but he’s been climbing the impossible mountain since his teenage years attending Hanamaki Higashi High School in Japan.

After having one of the greatest seasons in the history of Major League Baseball, Shohei Ohtani was really the only obvious choice to grace the cover of MLB The Show 22.

For the second year in a row, MLB The Show is expanding to a new platform and will give fans a new way to play! MLB The Show 22 will be available on Nintendo Switch for the first time, adding to the console lineup on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. This is a very exciting moment for all of us, as the storied franchise continues to welcome more players. We would like to thank everyone at Sony Interactive Entertainment, Xbox, Nintendo, Major League Baseball, Major League Baseball Players Association, and the San Diego Studio for making this happen.

Coach is joined by friends, family, and cover star Shohei Ohtani himself to give you the details on online  co-op play. This online feature makes it possible to squad up and play 2v2 or 3v3 with your favorite MLB or MiLB teams in Play Now mode online or with your card collection in Diamond Dynasty in MLB The Show 22. Team up online with friends, family, or other competitors across any console platform where MLB The Show 22 is available. You can also combine your select Diamond Dynasty cards with your teammates’ collections to field the ultimate team and prove who the kings and queens of the diamond are.

Whether you’re a monster on the mound or the best home run robber in the outfield, lean into your strengths with your online teammates to field the winning team.

Starting February 17 around 10am PST and lasting through 10am PST February 23 , players in U.S. and Canada with a PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch internet-connected console can participate in the MLB The Show 22 Technical Test.

What is the Technical Test?

We want to deliver the best version possible of MLB The Show 22 and to do that we need everyone’s help to stress test the servers, online match-making, cross-platform play, online co-op, and more in addition to gathering feedback on gameplay. The best news? No need to sign up, it’s open to everyone.

Download for free on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, or Nintendo eShop on February 16, 2022.

Nintendo fans can now join in with Xbox and PlayStation fans to play against each other online with cross-platform play in MLB The Show 22. With cross saves you can transfer a save file for Road to the Show or Franchise mode to a different console.
