by Rainier on Feb. 3, 2022 @ 11:42 a.m. PST

GRID Legends is a high-stakes driving experience that combines thrilling motorsport action, incredible race variety and an immersive story that puts the player at the heart of the action.

Featuring the series’ renowned race handling, GRID Legends delivers exciting, unpredictable racing across traditional race tracks and city circuits. The game also boasts a race creator that will enable players to select mixed-class vehicles and battle across all circuits, including new city locations, London and Moscow.

The legendary GRID World Series returns and, this year, players are front and centre in a fly-on-the-wall documentary that captures every moment on and off the track. Drivers encounter fierce personalities, internal team politics and the infamous Ravenwest Motorsport, which hopes to take a sixth World Championship. Developed using innovative virtual production, which brings players closer to the action, the underdog tale features an eclectic cast, including award-winning British actor Ncuti Gatwa.

GRID Legends delivers drama across every inch of the track. Unique driver personality AI creates unpredictable racing as cars jostle for a place on the podium. Compete on over 130 routes, including real-life tracks such as Brands Hatch and Indianapolis, to iconic GRID city circuits like San Francisco, Paris, and more. Race and upgrade over 100 vehicles from classic touring cars to big rigs, single-seaters, to stadium trucks. With the inclusion of the race creator, players can take their favorite mixed-class rides onto the track and battle it out online.

GRID Legends will feature the biggest variety of game modes, including a deeper Career with over 250 events, an epic story mode entitled ‘Driven to Glory’, the return of Drift and Elimination, and the introduction of Electric Boost racing. Drivers of all levels can immediately jump behind the wheel of over 100 vehicles at launch, race around the world from classic tracks to iconic city locations, and connect with friends and rivals in seconds with cross-platform multiplayer thanks to the hop-in feature.

GRID Legends features more gameplay choices than any previous GRID title, including the return of community-requested Drift mode and fan favorite, Elimination which puts all the pressure on the back-markers, with drivers dropping out periodically until only one remains. The new Race Creator lets players host their dream multi-class match-ups, pitting different vehicle types together to create unique racing moments in every race. The experience can be personalized further by changing the weather conditions, time of day, or adding ramps and boost gates, so no race is ever the same.

The latest GRID Legends trailer showcasing the variety of race action awaiting players when GRID Legends launches later this month.

Setting the scene for the GRID World Series, the action begins with Driven to Glory, the game’s story mode created using virtual production, starring award-winning actor Ncuti Gatwa. The action takes a whistle-stop tour around the global locations and teases some of the mouth-watering vehicles on offer at launch. Then it’s all-out action with a close look at the return of Drift, and the hop-in multiplayer, demonstrating the ease in which up to 22 players can join a race in seconds. With the introduction of ramps and speed boosts, racing thrill-seekers have more variety and choice than ever before.

“We’re dialling up the race action and giving players a closer look at more fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat gameplay, including returning fan-favourite feature, Drift,” said Christopher Smith, GRID Creative Director at Codemasters. “The response to the game since we announced last summer has been phenomenal, and we can’t wait for players to join us on the starting line in a few weeks.”

The all-new Race Creator allows players to host dream multi-class match-ups and personalise further with weather conditions, time of day, ramps and boost gates. Fresh to the franchise is ‘Driven to Glory’, a gritty motorsport story that combines virtual production technology and gameplay as players compete for the GRID World Series title. The hop-in multiplayer option with cross-platform functionality allows players to connect easily across all platforms and gets them into races without player lobbies and friend requests.

Players who pre-order receive the GRID Legends Seneca & Ravenwest Double Pack. Available on launch day, this content unlocks four additional cars for Career events: the Aston Martin Vantage GT4, Porsche 962C, Ginetta G55 GT4, and Koenigsegg Jesko. The pack also features exclusive Ravenwest-focused Career events and Seneca and Ravenwest team icons, liveries and banners.

‘Driven to Glory’ is a gritty motorsport story that throws players in at the deep end as teams battle for the GRID World Series. Created using virtual production technology and featuring award-winning actor Ncuti Gatwa, Driven to Glory comes to life using real actors instead of motion-capture, blending movie sequences with racing challenges. After the story’s finale, progress carries into career progression, opening up a new series of events to complete.

GRID Legends boasts an improved multiplayer system that puts racing and connecting with friends at the heart of the experience. Not only does it support cross-platform gameplay, it updates players as to when their mates are online and allows them to start racing in three quick button presses. No more waiting for friend requests and lobbies; select a race, and the action begins almost simultaneously.

GRID Legends is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PS4 and PC in February 25, 2022.
