'Warframe' Details 9th Anniversary Content, Angels of the Zariman Expansion Revealed - Trailer

by Rainier on March 15, 2022 @ 2:57 p.m. PDT

WarFrame is a free-to-play fast-action co-op focused shooter set in an evolving sci-fi world.

Set in the far reaches of outer space during a new Dark Age, WarFrame introduces the Tenno, a race on the brink of extinction after being enslaved by the Grineer for centuries. Players enter WarFrame on the cusp of the Grineer's victory over the Tenno until they begin to arm themselves with WarFrames - an ancient exo-skeletal technology only they can operate. Hidden within the Orokin Derelicts of a lost civilization, new WarFrames lie dormant and undiscovered. These artifacts are the Tenno's only hope for survival.

WarFrame is a free-to-play fast-action PvE shooter set in an evolving sci-fi world. Some would call it MMO-Lite as squads of four players band together to advance their characters and battle the oppression of the genocidal Grineer. Throughout their combat missions, players will continually increase the power and abilities of their WarFrame and weapons. Players will raid new areas of space searching for exotic and powerful weapons and WarFrame augmentations to customize their arsenal. With WarFrame's Automatic Mission Generator, the game will offer endless replay as levels are procedurally configured for a unique raid -- every time.

Developer Digital Extremes offered a sneak peek at its latest Warframe expansion, Angels of the Zariman, taking players on a trip to the fabled Zariman Ten Zero to show off exciting new content coming to the action game this spring.

The new trailer highlights some of the new features, and offers players a first glimpse at Warframe’s 49th playable Warframe - Gyre, a formidable Warframe that hones the power of electricity with grace, elegance, and supreme power.

More information on Gyre, including her Abilities and signature weapons and customization, will be announced soon.

A direct follow up to The New War, Angels of the Zariman follows the player journey returning to the legendary and fabled Zariman Ten Zero and will introduce a new single-player Quest that continues the story from The New War.

Angels of the Zariman brings players a smaller, new chapter in its Cinematic Quest saga – a riveting free-to-play sci-fi spectacular with 30+ hours of narrative-driven single-player cinematic gameplay. In addition to a brand new Quest, Angels of the Zariman, brings a wealth of additional content and features, including a new Warframe, three new playable mission types, a social hubtown, customizable apartments for players aboard the Zariman Ten Zero, and new Customizations alongside quality of life improvements. Void Shell Skins will be introduced for the first time, which will further increase customization in Warframe allowing players to freely change textures on materials and apply a tint to their Warframe. These Skins will be available to earn as well as purchase. Additionally, Evolving Weapons will make their debut in Warframe, which can be procured from a new NPC aboard the Zariman. These weapons will evolve based on challenges completed in-game, and players can unlock various aspects of these weapons as they progress.

Aboard the Zariman, players will discover new missions and can visit a new social hubtown called the Chrysalith. This new social hubtown will let players seamlessly access procedural missions without load screens. NPCs will also be introduced in the Chrysalith, offering a variety of side missions and objectives to pursue.

Three new mission types will be introduced for players completing the Angels of the Zariman Quest that players will be able to select from the Star Chart or from a Bounty NPC in the Chrysalith: Void Flood, Void Cascade, and Void Armageddon. Players who tuned in to Devstream 160 were given a first look at in-progress gameplay from a Void Flood mission - an endless mission type with focus on parkour as players work to collect floating Void Orbs to gain Void Energy used to seal Void Fractures that appear in-mission. Void Orbs can be picked up from fallen enemies, or found in clusters that spawn mid-air for the parkour-inclined.

Angels of the Zariman will also bring some welcomed changes to Eximus enemies and Focus. For complete details and a deeper understanding of Warframe’s upcoming Eximus and Focus rework, please visit the Dev Workshop Preview in the Warframe Forums.

Finally, players who complete the Angels of the Zariman Quest will gain access to a personal apartment aboard the lost ship, complete with customizable options to create a one-of-a-kind home in space they can decorate as they wish.

Kick Off Spring with Nora Night this Week

Nightwave: Nora’s Mix Vol. 1 will be launching this week on all platforms, bringing a mix of unique rewards spanning the old and new with a fresh selection of Acts that allplayers can experience. For more information on Nightwave: Nora’s Mix Vol. 1, including details on upcoming Acts and awesome rewards, visit the Warframe Forums.

The bloodthirsty Warframe Garuda is set to receive some Ability tweaks this week to improve the overall flow and feel of her playstyle with select Abilities receiving invulnerability states while casting. Previously, Garuda would receive a damage buff the lower her health was. This has changed and is now directly tied to how many enemies she takes down. The more players rip and tear their way through and slaughter enemies, the more they’re rewarded for it.

Tweaks to some of Warframe’s lesser-used Augments are also set to debut this week on all platforms, rolling out slight adjustments to more than a dozen Augments with more on the way for a future release.
