Slide on your chainsaw leg, eviscerating foes and opening up bosses for critical damage, and go car-surfing—yes, riding on the hoods of flying cars. Blast away with the Twin Magnums, which lock-on and instagib several foes, the Boomer Shotgun and its attached grenade launcher, or the Telefragger sniper rifle, which teleports Johnny inside an enemy before they explode from within. Race through two dozen stages packed with secrets, bonus arena stages, and white-knuckle combat puzzles. Find game-changing collectibles to unlock punishing modifiers like triple-monster-speed and insta-kill. Combine all of Johnny’s weapons and powers to outsmart, outgun, and outrun the corrupted legions.

Turbo Overkill slides into Steam Early Access for PC on April 22, 2022 ($19.95) with the first of three planned episodes.

Turbo Overkill’s first episode invites FPS fans to experience the first eight stages of the game, plus a host of secret arenas, difficulty modifiers, and other unlockables for 5-8 hours of gameplay. A bevy of updates over the coming months will add new stages, abilities, quality-of-life features, and hardcore challenges.

“Since I fell in love with the genre as a player, I’ve always wanted to contribute something to the FPS canon as a developer,” said Sam Prebble, one half of developer Trigger Happy Interactive. “Turbo uses my favorite parts of modern games like Titanfall and Apex Legends as a lens to examine the classics we grew up on. Do those level designs and challenges still work in a world where the player is more powerful than ever?”

“This is easily the most excited I’ve been about a shooter since the glory years of Apogee, when we were creating global hits like Wolfenstein 3D, Max Payne, Duke Nukem and Prey,” added Scott Miller, founder of Apogee and 3D Realms.

Turbo Overkill is coming to Nintendo Switch, P45, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) in 2022.
