'Fortnite' $200,000 Tournaments Added To DreamHack Summer Festival

by Rainier on May 10, 2022 @ 9:04 a.m. PDT

Fortnite is an expansive original world that invites players to be creative, resourceful and collaborative, combining building skills and destructible environments with intense PvP combat.

In Fortnite, players and their friends lead a group of Heroes to reclaim and rebuild a homeland that has been left empty by a mysterious darkness only known as “the Storm.”

Players will band together online to explore the world for resources, build extravagant forts, find or build insane weapons and traps as they protect their towns from the strange monsters that emerge during the Storm.

Fortnite Battle Royale is the FREE 100-player PvP mode in Fortnite. One giant map. A battle bus.

The last one standing wins.

DreamHack announced the addition of two Fortnite competitions to its DreamHack Summer festival in Jönköping, Sweden on June 18-21, 2022. Both are solo competitions and feature a $100,000 prize pool each, with one using the classic Battle Royale game mode while the other runs the new Zero Build game mode.

The competitions are open to all LAN participants at DreamHack Summer, with qualifiers running on the opening day and playoffs on Sunday and Monday. Both competitions will be broadcasted live on Twitch.

“We are delighted to offer our community once again the chance to compete in Fortnite,” said Artem Bykov, General Manager, Game Management at ESL Gaming. “DreamHack and Fortnite are a perfect pairing as we’re both focused on providing our communities with great experiences and to team up once again to bring these prestigious yet fun competitions to Sweden is amazing.”

DreamHack has hosted large-scale community-focused Fortnite competitions since 2019, with the first two on-site competitions taking place at DreamHack Winter 2019 and DreamHack Anaheim 2020. During the pandemic, the DreamHack Open Featuring Fortnite competitions moved online and gathered masses of players from several regions throughout its runtime.

Additional information about this summer’s Fortnite competitions is available at the DreamHack Summer website. Details will include the tournament structure, how to participate, the schedule, and more.

Fortnite is currently available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Android and iOS.
