'Outriders Worldslayer' Shows Off Co-Op Gameplay, Endgame Broadcast Airs Tomorrow - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on June 9, 2022 @ 4:15 p.m. PDT

Outriders is a 1-3 player, drop-in-drop-out, co-op RPG shooter set in an original, dark and desperate sci-fi universe.

As mankind bleeds out in the trenches of Enoch, you’ll create your own Outrider and embark on a journey across a hostile planet. With rich storytelling spanning a diverse world, you’ll leave behind the slums and shanty towns of the First City and traverse forests, mountains and deserts in pursuit of a mysterious signal.

In the 30 years that have passed since the Human colonists’ arrival, the once peaceful wildlife and environments of Enoch have hyper-evolved from exposure to the Anomaly, turning nearly every living creature into something designed to kill.

The untamed frontiers of Enoch are filled with dangers that will test the Outriders fortitude to the limit.

Outriders Worldslayer is a brutal 1-3 player co-op looter shooter set in an original, dark sci-fi universe, where you create will your own Outrider from one of four powerful classes. Begin with the original Outriders campaign or use the all-new Level 30 Boost to jump straight into the Worldslayer content with a fully geared up Outrider and journey across the diverse and deadly planet of Enoch.

Facing the challenges of Enoch in co-op takes the intense action to the next level. Drop-in and drop-out at any time and experience the new environments, new enemies and new features of Outriders Worldslayer in single player or in co-op with your friends.

The Outriders ‘Endgame’ Broadcast will air on Twitch starting Friday June 10, at 11:45am PDT / 7:45pm BST / 8:45pm CEST.

Players can look forward to full details on the Worldslayer endgame and long-term progression systems, and gameplay footage that gives a closer look at just some of the powerful enemies and twisted and beautiful guns and gear featured in Outriders Worldslayer.

Face off against the most deadly Altered ever encountered, Ereshkigal, in humanity’s last fight for survival. Beyond her, even greater horrors exist in the ultimate endgame experience, taking place in the ancient ruins of Tarya Gratar.

Combining aggressive gunplay with violent powers and an arsenal of increasingly twisted customizable weaponry and gear-sets, Outriders Worldslayer offers countless hours of visceral gameplay from one of the finest shooter developers in the industry – People Can Fly.

Outriders Worldslayer will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC (Steam/Epic/Windows Store), Google Stadia and Nvidia GeForce Now on June 30, 2022.

Existing Outriders owners can purchase the Worldslayer Upgrade to access Worldslayer content.

A New Campaign, New Enemies, New Environments

Worldslayer includes a brand new story campaign that you can jump into even if you haven't played the original story.

The new story will pit you against one of the first and most powerful Altered, Ereshkigal, who wields a new power no one's ever seen before. She stands in the way of the Outriders’ continued quest for the survival of humanity, as the planet of Enoch experiences cataclysmic changes caused by the Anomaly. She has her own plans, and only by embracing your Altered power can you even hope to prevail in the greatest battle the Outriders have ever faced.

The campaign will delve deeper into the alien nature of Enoch and the backstory of the world, and we've focused on creating a tight campaign experience with greater combat variety and more epic and alien environments.

The new Worldslayer content is suitable for anyone, whether you're a grizzled veteran of many Expeditions, you only finished the original campaign story, or you’re a completely new player. You will be able to continue using your existing character in Worldslayer, or jump straight in with a new character using the new Level 30 Boost feature.

New Guns and Gear

Worldslayer introduces tons of new gear, both weapons and armor, as well as exciting new mods. Each class will be getting two new 5-piece Legendary armour sets, and there will also be new 3-piece Legendary armor sets, which will be universally equippable for all classes.

Worldslayer contains almost a hundred new Legendary items in total, across weapons and armor pieces, and they all have new and unique mods with gameplay altering abilities.

Level 30 Character Boost

Worldslayer will allow players to carry over their existing characters, or create entirely new characters that can be boosted to level 30 and which have appropriate guns and gear to take on Worldslayer content. This level 30 boost can be used as many times as you want, by both new players and veterans who may want to start a new class.

If you do use the Level 30 Boost, you can also still access all the previous content from the original game through the timeline feature, which will all scale to your level.

The PAX Class Tree Gives Your Class New Options

Worldslayer introduces a new way to progress your character: the PAX tree is a separate class tree from the existing three-branch class tree you may be familiar with from the original game, and unlocks at level 30 after you start the Worldslayer content.

It will require its own PAX Points to activate the nodes in it. You'll get these PAX Points from completing key Worldslayer content milestones.

Just like the original class trees, the PAX tree can be freely respecced at no cost.

The PAX tree will further evolve the existing classes in Outriders, essentially granting you sub-class specialisations that broaden the horizons of your class. Each node in the PAX tree is equivalent to the major nodes in the original class trees, so every choice you make in the PAX tree will be impactful to the performance of your Outrider.

Ascension Points Allows For Long Term Progression of Your Character

Worldslayer introduces a new progression system called Ascension. Ascension Levels are acquired through battle experience and the system is intended to reward players who plan to spend time hundreds of hours in the game. Even if you maybe didn't get that piece of loot you wanted this run, you still got stronger from it.

Ascension is only available at level 30, and only if you have Worldslayer installed. XP earned after hitting level 30 goes towards your Ascension Level, which will reward Ascension Points.

You can then invest these points into different aspects of your character abilities: Brutality, Endurance, Prowess or Anomaly. Each of those categories have 5 options to invest in, including things like better armor, more HP, higher critical attack rates and so on.

There are a total of 200 Ascension Points to get, and getting all 200 of them will take hundreds of hours.

Apocalypse Tiers Change How Difficulty Works

In the original Outriders, difficulty is managed with World Tiers for the campaign and Challenge Tiers for the endgame Expeditions. The new Apocalypse Tiers replace Challenge Tiers and form a more natural extension to World Tiers.

Apocalypse Tiers go up to level 40, and will impact your max level of equippable gear, the level and rarity of loot you receive, the amount of XP you earn.

Challenge Tiers have been removed entirely, and you will now play both Expeditions and Worldslayer content in Apocalypse Tiers. Expeditions will be run using Apocalypse Tiers even if you don't own Worldslayer.

When you start Worldslayer content, you will automatically change to Apocalypse Tiers. You will then stay on Apocalypse Tiers no matter what content you're playing, even in the original campaign. This means you can work on your Apocalypse Tier progress by playing any content in the game.

Playing the original Outriders campaign on the Apocalypse Tier system will give you an informal New Game + experience, with stronger enemies and new loot. You can manually switch yourself back to the original World Tiers if you are playing the original campaign content.

The max Apocalypse Tier you can unlock through playing Expeditions without owning Worldslayer is Apocalypse Tier 15. This corresponds to a Max Gear Level of 50, similar to Challenge Tier 15 in the original game.

At Apocalypse Tier 40, your Max Gear Level is level 75, which is the new gear level cap.

Apocalypse Loot Introduces a New Gear Type With a Third Mod Slot

When you are playing on Apocalypse Tier difficulty levels, you have a chance to get Apocalypse Gear variants to drop.

Apocalypse Gear pieces are variants of Epic and Legendary gear in the game, and have a third mod slot available.

Apocalypse Gear can only be earned through drops, it cannot be crafted. The third Apocalypse mod slot cannot be edited, so finding an Apocalypse variant of a powerful Legendary with a strong mod in the Apocalypse slot will be key to unlocking maximum power for your Outrider.

There is a new type of endgame for Outriders

The Campaign in Worldslayer will take you to the ancient city of Tarya Gratar, the cradle of PAX civilisation. This is where the Trial of Tarya Gratar awaits you.

This is a completely new type of endgame, entirely different from the Expeditions experience. We're not revealing anything more about this quite yet, but keep an eye out for more information later this summer.

Combining intense gunplay with violent powers, along with an arsenal of increasingly twisted weaponry and gear-sets and a compelling, personal story, Outriders offers countless hours of gameplay from one of the finest shooter studios in the industry.

Outriders is available on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Google Stadia and PC (Steam).
