'Vampire Survivors' v1.8 Update Will Add New 'Adventures' Game Type, Coming Soon - Trailer

by Rainier on Nov. 3, 2023 @ 12:03 p.m. PDT

Vampire Survivors is a gothic horror casual game with rogue-lite elements, where your choices can allow you to quickly snowball against the hundreds of monsters that get thrown at you.

Mow down thousands of night creatures and survive until dawn!

Vampire Survivors is a time survival game with minimalistic gameplay and roguelite elements.

Hell is empty, the devils are here, and there's no place to run or hide. All you can do is survive as long as you can until death inevitably puts an end to your struggles. Gather gold in each run to buy upgrades and help the next survivor

After learning about the cutting-edge development technique called ‘having a story’, Vampire Survivors developer poncle have announced an upcoming free addition to game: Adventures!

Adventures are self-contained miniature story modes that remix the game's content, following the Survivors cast on a series of wacky sidequests. Each Adventure will offer a unique progression path, giving the player an opportunity to start from scratch and face custom challenges with a limited arsenal - without losing their precious unlocks in the main game.

Adventures Features:

  • TEST YOUR METTLE! Embark on a self-contained adventure starring different members of the Survivors crew and fight your way to the finale.
  • START AFRESH! Start from scratch, overcoming customised challenges with a unique arsenal of weapons and upgrades – without losing your main game progress.
  • COMES FREE WITH UPDATES AND DLCs! Moving forward Adventures will be included with some of the regular free updates and DLCs (just like new weapons, characters, items etc.) adding an hour or two of additional content per Adventure.
  • THREE LAUNCH CHAPTERS AWAIT! With the next v1.8 update players can dive into a handful of Adventures, two for the base game and one Legacy of the Moonspell Adventure for owners of the DLC.

“We are having a lot of fun making Vampire Survivors bigger and adding content,” said poncle lead Luca Galante. “But with Adventures we wanted to add something a little different that players at all levels can engage with, from newcomers to veteran garlic enjoyers. We hope the fans love this new way to play Vampire Survivors and the extremely deep lore drops that come with it!”

The next game update (v1.8) will include the first wave of a handful of Adventures (no date yet but coming soon!). More Adventures will be added in the future as part of free updates and paid DLCs, alongside old favourite recurring features like new characters, weapons and stages.

The Legacy of the Moonspell DLC Adventure showcases Vampire Survivors gameplay with a series of original twists, featuring remixed environments, characters, and weapons. One of the Adventures available in the base game will explore how we’re reworking classic content, with a slightly serious storyline and a chance to earn unlocks earlier than normal. The other Adventure will be as absurd as you’d usually expect from Vampire Survivors.

Each Adventure has a few missions and makes a sort of mini campaign that will vary in playtime. The first few Adventures should take players an hour or two each to finish for the first time, but future Adventures might be longer or shorter. There might also be something to do once you have finished an Adventure, who knows :)

Progress from the main game will not carry over into Adventures as they are a chance for a fresh start with unique challenges. The only progress that you will carry over from the main game are your Relics and different game modes you have unlocked, such as Hyper and Inverse.

Progress from Adventures will not carry over into the main game. The main game will remain the solid foundation over which Adventures build castles in the sky. However, completing an Adventure will earn you a bountiful cache of Coins to use in the main game, and some Adventures might feature unique new ways to unlock existing main game Relics.

After you have completed an Adventure, it can be ‘Ascended’. That means you reset the Adventure to the first stage but gain one (1) Ascension point which you can put into tweaking the Adventure stats to make it more rewarding. You can boost Luck, Growth, Curse, and Greed. The first ascension point spent will boost a stat by 20%. The second point will boost it by 10% instead. Every other point will boost it by 5%. You can re-assign Ascension points however you want.

How many times can you Ascend? How many times is TOO many times? The answer is limitlessly. Endlessly. Foreverlessly(?).

Key Features:

  • Choose upgrades carefully and survive the night using only your wits!
  • Unlock characters, levels, weapons and more as you play!
  • Evolve from a lone fighter into a mind-bogglingly, overpowered, supernatural beings!
  • BE THE BULLET HELL!

Vampire Survivors is available for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam).
