Former 'Burnout' And 'Need For Speed' Execs Leave Criterion Games And Reunite In Fuse Games

Fuse Games is a new AAA development studio led by former Electronic Arts VP and Criterion Games General Manager, Matt Webster.

With a collective heritage from Criterion Games, Fuse Games will create premium genre-leading interactive entertainment for PC and console, uniting legendary talent with the next generation of game-makers.

Fuse Games is already at work on a brand new AAA title fusing uncompromising attention to game-feel with blockbuster spectacle and player-centric innovations in social gameplay, self-expression, and creativity. The studio is focused on building a modern, high performing, values-led team that fuses depth of experience along with diverse, developing talent to create games with fun, love and excitement for a global gaming audience.

Fuse Games is led by Matt Webster as Studio GM. He is joined by four co-founders from Criterion Games including Steve Uphill as Head of Content, Pete Lake as Head of Production, Alan McDairmant as Head of Operations, and Andrei Shires as Head of Technology.

Fuse's founding team has worked together for almost two decades developing IP, elevating existing properties, and leading large-scale development for world-leading franchises including BurnoutBattlefieldStar Wars: Battlefront and Need for Speed. The team most recently breathed new life into the long-running Need for Speed series with 2019's Need for Speed Heat and 2022's Need for Speed Unbound.

Already 17 strong, the studio is looking to grow quickly having secured significant funding to establish and build strong foundations as development begins on its first title. Fuse Games is based in Guildford, UK and is now recruiting for roles ranging from graduate to lead across all disciplines. Fuse Games is built for hybrid working and welcomes applicants from outside the United Kingdom.
