'Shadow War' Is A Free To Play 5v5 Hero-Based Action Game Coming To PC and Consoles - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on March 9, 2023 @ 1:08 a.m. PST

Shadow War is a free to play, 3rd-person, hero-based, 5v5 next-generation hybrid action game for competitive and casual gamers alike.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Shadow War promises to deliver stylish action to true action fans and newcomers alike, featuring heavy strategic elements and unique gameplay mechanics, rewarding both tactically minded and mechanically focused audiences.

Players will be able to select from a roster of diverse and powerful characters (known as Operatives ) and form a team with their allies to compete in intense 5 vs. 5 matches with many of the operatives focusing more on intense melee fighting than ranged weaponry.

Operatives have several abilities depending on the weapons they can use. Some operatives have both ranged and melee options, or abilities supplementing both playstyles. Creative players will find the best applications of each combat mode to achieve the best result.

"Shadow War is the intersection of futurism, fantasy, action, and our competitive nature. It is a scintillating tale of ordinary people who become extraordinary," said Patriots Division CEO Roger Stanley.

There are a multitude of maps and game modes available in Shadow War, featuring locations from all over the in-game universe. In one map, combatants will fight atop a corporate building in a futuristic New York City, a false front for a dangerous terrorist operation. In another, players will battle for supremacy in the Memetic Archive, a top-secret underground data vault hidden in the north.

Shadow War is in development for both console and PC platforms.
