'Deep Rock Galactic' Season 04: Critical Corruption Details, Available On Experimental Server Ahead Of Launch - Trailer

by Rainier on June 1, 2023 @ 11:27 a.m. PDT

Deep Rock Galactic is a procedurally generated first person co-op shooter for up to 4 players.

As a team of veteran dwarven space miners, you must go on missions for your corporate overlords and venture into the deepest, most dangerous cave systems of the most hostile planet ever discovered.

Experience teamwork as you’ve never experienced it in a co-op game before. Complete missions and gather ever more riches. Expand your roster of class-based skills, unlock new gear and weapons, and take on the worst monsters the galaxy has to offer.

Players take up arms as one of four classes of badass dwarven miners, each with their own invaluable set of skills and gear. The Driller, the Engineer, the Scout and the Gunner must work together to survive a relentless onslaught of ravenous aliens and escape the procedurally generated caves with their bounty intact.

Enlisted dwarves will be paired with up to three like-minded brethren and sent on missions to the most hostile planet ever discovered, Hoxxes IV, to mine precious gems and metals. Cooperation is essential to your success and, as an interplanetary mining conglomerate, Deep Rock Galactic depends on its employees to take care of each other.

Season 04: Critical Corruption hits Steam’s Experimental Branch today and launches onto live servers June 15, where dwarves continue to fight the ever evolving Rockpox plague.

The latest season brings four new enemy types to encounter, Jet Boots to find and strap on in the mines, another completely free Performance Pass for players to explore, as well as a fresh batch of cosmetics, sleeveless armour options, and a beer that doubles as a wardrobe stylist.

It ain’t easy being disease-y

Season 04: Critical Corruption sees the continued damage that Rockpox is ravaging on Hoxxes IV, and it has spread to the creatures waiting in the mines. Both Mactera Bombers and Naedocyte Breeders have fallen victim to the disease, and are spreading it like, well, the plague. On top of this, the plague hearts have gained both mobility and a bloodlust, developing into Lithophage Corruptors. These atrocities, which are more resilient than ever before, have warranted a new in-game event. Resistant to the normal weapons that dwarves carry, miners must take advantage of the company-issued cleaning equipment to weaken these atrocities before destroying them once and for all.

To make matters worse, the dwarves of Deep Rock Galactic have more to worry about than just infected infestations. Two new enemy types, the Glyphid Stingtail and the Glyphid Septic Spreader, have been sighted down in the mines and are capable of doing significant damage.

How about the power of flight? That do anything for you?

Never let it be said that Deep Rock Galactic leaves its employees under equipped, as there will be new safety equipment available within the mines: Jet Boots. Found in coded crates in the caves, these boot attachments are fashionable and functional. Dwarves can take flight in the mines, providing a leg up against anything they may encounter. To get acquainted with these new attachments, and prevent any workplace injury claims, Mission Control has also added a Jetty Boot training terminal into the Space Rig. This is a very serious piece of training equipment, and recreational usage is explicitly forbidden.

Dressed to the Nines on Hoxxes IV

Season 04 also brings plenty of fashionable content because when dwarves look good, they feel good – and they fight diseases even better. Mission Control has approved a new “suns out, guns out” dress code for summer, introducing a toggle for sleeveless versions of all owned sets. With this newfound freedom, dwarves who can’t decide what to wear can drown their sorrows at the Abyss Bar. Here, a new brew called the Randoweisser will help a dwarf out by haphazardly selecting a look for the day with a completely random array of owned cosmetics.
