'Lords Of The Fallen' Introduces Dual Worlds Mechanic in 3 Minutes of Gameplay - Trailer

by Rainier on June 10, 2023 @ 4:18 p.m. PDT

Lords Of The Fallen is an action RPG set within a medieval fantasy world ruled by a Fallen God where you will fight against the formidable Lords and Generals that command his demonic army.

Taking place more than a thousand years after the events of the first game, Lords Of The Fallen introduces an all-new adventure in a vast, interconnected world, more than five times larger than the original game. As one of the fabled Dark Crusaders, embark on an epic quest to overthrow Adyr, the demon God.

An expansive RPG experience - filled with NPC quests, compelling characters, and rich narrative - players will need to create their own hero before tackling the immersive single player campaign. They will also have the option to invite a second player to join their adventure in uninterrupted online co-op - a new feature for the franchise.

After an age of the cruelest tyranny, the demon God, Adyr, was finally defeated. But Gods… do not fall forever. Now, aeons later, Adyr’s resurrection draws nigh. As one of the fabled Dark Crusaders, journey through both the realms of the living and the dead in this expansive RPG experience, featuring colossal boss battles, fast challenging combat, thrilling character encounters, and deep, immersive storytelling. Will your legend be one of light… or one of darkness?

Dare to Hope.

Bear witness to deeper looks at the Dual Worlds of Axiom, the realm of the living, and Umbral, the realm of the dead, in an all new gameplay trailer.

A vast world awaits in all-new, dark fantasy action-RPG, Lords of the Fallen. As one of the fabled Dark Crusaders, embark on an epic quest to overthrow Adyr, the demon God.

Focusing on one of the title’s most anticipated mechanics, the feature provides all-new details, alongside never-before-seen gameplay, on how the dual worlds of Lords of the Fallen function. Players will need to explore not one, but two expansive environments when adventuring through the savage lands of Mournstead; Axiom, the realm of the living, and Umbral, the realm of the dead.

Coexisting like two sides of the same coin, these parallel worlds each feature their own unique pathways, enemies, characters, and, of course, treasures. And while it is often down to the player which realm they journey through, they will regularly need to switch from one to the other in order to progress.

In addition, the video also provided brand new details on three of its numerous brutal bosses, as well as shedding new light on an integral gameplay ability - the soul flay - which not only allows players to interact with the soul of their enemy, but also manipulate elements of the environment for some puzzle-based exploration.

Saul Gascon, HEXWORKS’ Head of Studio said: "By enabling players to use the Umbral Lamp and switch between two distinct parallel worlds at will, we have been able to introduce entirely new levels of immersion to the action-RPG genre. We believe that this addition brings a refreshing, albeit often eerie, twist to its well-established mechanics, such as a revitalised death run, double-layered environmental storytelling, and, of course, a tactical impact in combat. We are eagerly anticipating how players will face this all-new challenge when it arrives this October!”
