'Season: A letter to the future' Developer Scavengers Studio Hit By Massive Layoffs

by Rainier on June 26, 2023 @ 2:37 p.m. PDT

Season: A letter to the future is a third-person atmospheric adventure bicycle road trip game.

You play as a young woman from a secluded village exploring the world by bike for the first time, collecting artifacts and memories before a cataclysm washes everything away.

Season: A Letter to the Future is a quest to discover a new world; one unknown yet familiar. You will be immersed in different cultures as they live their last moments. Document, photograph, and record life as you find it, while you still can. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let yourself be carried away on the extraordinary journey of Season

Through a solitary bicycle journey, form your own memories, your own vision of the world around you.

Your goal?

Protect these treasures from being forgotten. Your quest will lead you to discover a new world; unknown, yet familiar. You will be immersed in different societies that will make you discover the mysteries of the world of Season; a surreal version of the mid-twentieth century, where thousands of years have passed without any progress.

Find out what caused the last collapse and what might cause the next one...

Former Scavengers Studio 3D artist Mathieu Sauve Leroux revealed that the Season: A Letter to the Future developer has been hit by massive layoffs, repordetly laying off half of its 40 employees. Whether its Playstation exclusivity hurt sales or not, the game sold only 60k copies, putting into question whether we'll see Season: A Letter to the Future on any other platforms at all.

Sad news today.
Unfortunately, Scavengers Studio underwent massive layoffs, and most of my colleagues and I are currently without work.

I`m very thankful to have had the opportunity to work on this wonderful game called Season, and to have collaborated with this unbelievably talented team for the last 4 years! I wish you all the best in the future, and also heartfelt thanks to the management of Scavengers for this great opportunity. This isn`t easy for anyone involved.

That said, I am open to new opportunities. If you have contacts or some projects that you believe I could help you with, feel free to contact me! Also, if you are hiring for non-art-related jobs, do let me know as well, as I will pass the word along.
Cheers!
