'RKGK' Is A Vibrant Anime-Inspired 3D Platformer Coming To PC Later This Summer - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on April 10, 2024 @ 4:53 p.m. PDT

RKGK is an anime-inspired single-player 3D platformer, you’re the only one who can take down Mr. Buff and his lackies to restore color and life to the citizens of Cap City.

Turn heads. Drop jaws. Be bright.

In RKGK, players accompany Valah, a member of a rebellious graffiti group, to fight the oppressive B Corp and its evil CEO that seeks to drain color and life from the Neo-Brutalist world of Cap City.

Push platforming skills to new heights, unleash abilities, and use the city as Valah’s canvas to take down B Corp’s minions.

The city is your canvas. Join the rebellious Valah and her RKGK crew to free the neo-brutalist Cap City from evil B Corp’s control. Collect secret treasures, find hidden paths, and light up the cold and grey concrete with your graffiti.

RKGK is the first title from studio Wabisabi Games, founded in Mexico City.

In 2020, Wabisabi Games received initial backing from Riot Games’ Underrepresented Founders Program, which invests in founders from underrepresented communities to help them create games and experiences for players of all backgrounds.

With a foundational commitment to support independent developers and being the most developer friendly publisher in the world, Gearbox Publishing forged a partnership with Wabisabi Games to ensure RKGK’s platforming thrills and the studio’s vision are brought to the widest possible global audience.

“We always dreamt of creating our own game that pays respect to all the things we loved as kids that kickstarted our imaginations, from graffiti and streetwear to anime and manga,” said Anwar Noriega, Wabisabi Game’s CEO and Studio Co-Founder. “RKGK fulfills our ultimate vision of not only making the fast, fun, colorful platformer we’ve always wanted to play, but also honors our deepest childhood joys that made us who we are. We hope that our story inspires other aspiring developers everywhere to pursue their dreams and make their voices heard.”

“The developers at Wabisabi have poured so much of themselves and their heartfelt passions into this game. We are very grateful to have been trusted by them to be their partner in bringing RKGK to players around the world,” said Steve Gibson, President of Gearbox Publishing. “Supporting the vision and work of smaller, independent studios is very important to us and immensely rewarding as we get to work with such talented individuals bringing their visions to life.”

“Seeing the Wabisabi team’s dedication, ambition, and creativity manifest in RKGK from start to finish has been incredibly rewarding,” said Jake Perlman-Garr, Head of Corporate Development at Riot Games. “Wabisabi is one of the first studios we committed to as part of the Underrepresented Founder’s Program in 2020, and we hope developers and players of all backgrounds will be able to enjoy RKGK.”
