'Exodus' Gameplay Footage Shows Off Uninterrupted Combat, Traversal And Exploration, Extended Gameplay Reveal This Summer - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on March 18, 2026 @ 9:00 a.m. PDT

Exodus is a sci-fi action/adventure RPG, a narrative-driven experience that marries cinematic storytelling and broad player agency with modern AAA gameplay.

The debut game from legendary RPG creator James Ohlen’s new studio is a next-generation, story-driven RPG that marries cinematic storytelling with deep emotional impact featuring broad player agency and modern AAA gameplay. The story is fueled by the consequences of player choices due to the impact of Time Dilation, and how they change the lives of those we love most.

In Exodus, humanity, having fled a dying Earth, has found a new home in a hostile galaxy – here, we are the underdogs fighting for our survival. Players step into the role of The Traveler, humanity’s last hope. Your job is to journey to distant stars on the hunt to steal alien weapons and technology from the most powerful enemy in the universe: the Celestials. There is one catch, however — Time Dilation.

As Travelers on interstellar missions, days for you are decades back home. The sacrifices you make to protect your loved ones create unpredictable consequences that change your world -- reshaping the future for generations to come. Returning home, you confront the consequences of your choices. Returning home, you will face the consequences of their choices, and must determine: how much are they willing to sacrifice?

//TRANSMISSION START

It’s what you’ve been asking for >> New EXODUS™ gameplay.

Work-in-progress. UI and all. The first drop of many as we build toward an Extended Gameplay Reveal this summer.

If you’re new here, humanity’s been out in the Centauri Cluster for forty thousand years. Far enough from Earth that there’s no going back (not that we could even if we wanted to). What we’ve built since then? Cities stacked on ruins. Wreckage from wars no one remembers starting. Worlds we bullied into being livable. Home sweet home.

You’re Jun Aslan. Salvager turned Traveler. It sounds cooler than it is until you become humanity's last line against the Celestials. You’ll thread through danger, hunt for alien tech, and hopefully rescue humanity from extinction. Standard stuff.

All of that across places like Khonsu’s orbital shrines and the space towers of Lyonesse on Lidon. Here’s a glimpse of what playing Exodus looks like.

>>WHAT YOU’RE SEEING: FOOTAGE BREAKDOWN

Clip #1

We’re starting early, with Jun alongside Tom and Elise in a live combat encounter on the outskirts of Lyonesse. This is the kind of fight where positioning matters and relying on your companions can mean the di􀆯erence between survival and being part of the wreckage. When Elise lets loose with her missile barrage, you feel it. Early on, nothing comes easy. You hold the line because your squad holds it with you.

Clip #2

In the next clip, we’re up on a space tower in Lyonesse. Things slow down a bit here to show what a mission can feel like between combat. Traversal in EXODUS has its own rhythm. You can move quickly, but sometimes it’s worth pausing and taking in the scale of the world around you.

Once you get comfortable with the railclaw, what might look like an obstacle becomes part of how you move through the world. It is a core piece of a Traveler’s toolkit, letting you traverse hostile terrain and, at times, gain a better vantage point when things escalate.

Clip #3

Further ahead, you step into an ancient shrine on Khonsu. Towering architecture rises overhead, unmistakably Celestial in its design. The space opens around you, drawing your pace down as you take it in. What waits inside is yours to discover…

<<SIGNAL RECEIVED

In our last Community Update, we asked what you wanted to see from Exodus in 2026. The signal came back clear: gameplay. Not just quick-cut trailers or cinematics, but uninterrupted footage that shows what it looks like to play: combat encounters, choices, and how a mission actually unfolds with someone at the controls. Copy that.

You also asked about:

  • RPG systems: skills, builds, gear, progression
  • Your relationships: companions, conversations, and romance
  • Your homeworld, Lidon, and life between story missions
  • How choices unfold in a universe shaped by Time Dilation

We won’t cover all of this at once, but it’s on our minds as we move toward launch in Early 2027.

>>THE ROAD TO SUMMER: MORE GAMEPLAY COMING

We want to give you a continuous look at what it feels like to step into Jun’s boots:

  • Now through early summer: Short gameplay clips throughout our channels showing combat encounters, traversal, interactions, and environments.
  • This summer: A longer gameplay showcase. Continuous footage with moment-to-moment gameplay, including combat, conversations, in-mission choices, and more.
  • After that: Focused deep dive spotlights on companions and romance, the RPG hub of Persepolis, choices and consequences, roleplaying mechanics, and Time Dilation. These roll out in the months before launch.

One important note: Some of what you've asked for is better discovered with a controller in hand. Major story beats stay protected so you can encounter them where they belong… inside the game.

<< WORLDBUILDING AND LORE

Worldbuilding has always been at the heart of Exodus. In the lead-up to our longer gameplay showcase this summer, we’ll keep sharing lore and worldbuilding that broadens the picture. Some of it will be new. Some will revisit stories and features that not everyone saw the first time.

Whether you’re returning or just arriving, we want these spotlights to give longtime Founders and newer Travelers alike fresh ground to cover in the Cluster.

//RESP0NS3 REQUEST: COMMUNITY QUESTION

When you think about the summer gameplay showcase, what are you hoping to see most?

A certain kind of moment? A system you're curious about? A specific companion? We can’t promise every request will show up in the summer showcase, but your answers help us understand what you’re most eager to see as we pull back the curtain.

//END TRANSMISSION

Key Features:

  • Experience the Emotional Impact of Time Dilation - Time Dilation escalates the emotional impact of your story-driven choices like never before. Traveling on interstellar missions at the edge of lightspeed, time moves differently — days for you can be years, decades or even centuries for those back home. The world you fight so hard to save moves on without you, changing and evolving while you are left behind. In your absence, friends and family will grow old and change, while you remain the same, forcing you to exist outside of time.
  • Explore A Universe of Possibilities - As the Traveler, you navigate the stars on missions to steal alien weapons and technology from the most powerful beings in the universe and humanity’s greatest enemy, the Celestials. These remnants are used to fight a destructive force that threatens the entire galaxy, including your homeworld. Through exploration, you gain an understanding of your universe, the Celestials, and how you are connected to the fate of humanity.
  • Lead A Diverse Cast of Companions - As humanity's savior you will lead a diverse set of companions in your fight for humanity, many of whom have their own quest and romance paths. Willing to brave unfathomable danger, and to stare into the abyss at your side, they are ready to join you in facing whatever arises. These are not just brave soldiers – they are genetically engineered savants, punk mech pilots, geniuses cursed with alien viruses and more.
  • Own Your Journey – In Exodus, you have the agency to customize your experience, from your character to your progression, combat style and the companions you choose. With each mission you grow more powerful as you progress from a lowly salvager to humanity’s last hope. As you infiltrate dangerous alien strongholds, you’ll need to decide which combat tactics and strategies you’ll use to exploit your enemy’s weakness.
