'The Expanse: Osiris Reborn' Not Coming Until Spring 2027 But A Beta Will Be Available In April And Run Until Launch - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on March 26, 2026 @ 11:08 a.m. PDT

Set in the universe of the popular TV series, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is a narrative action RP with an original story that expands on the current lore of the show.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn delivers an original story of survival and loyalty, and significantly expands the world of The Expanse depicted in the TV show and novels.

By the 24th century, humanity has conquered the cosmos. However, life has remained anything but easy. In The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, a story-driven sci-fi Action RPG, you play as a Pinkwater Security mercenary whose brief shore leave on the asteroid Eros spirals out of control. Trapped in a deadly lockdown and drawn into a solar system-wide conspiracy far beyond your control, you’ll have to adapt, survive, taking command of the most advanced ship in the whole of the solar system.

Create and customize your own captain — Earther, Martian, or Belter — and lead a crew of highly-skilled specialists as you face off against escalating threats, political pressure, and a relentless enemy that will stop at nothing to see you dead. In a solar system held together by fragile alliances, every decision leaves its mark.

You’re no hero — just a merc caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, trying to hold your crew together and keep the ship up and running. Your choices will shape your story.

Your companions are more than just mission assets — they are people with their own scars and loyalties. Some chase redemption. Others hide their truths. Over time, your relationships will flourish or deteriorate depending on the choices you make and how you choose to lead. The ship becomes your home — a place where trust is earned, not given.

Fight in third-person utilizing cover-focused gunplay and abilities. Two companions will accompany you into the field while others will support from a distance: disabling systems or drawing the enemies’ attention. You will issue real-time commands and have to adapt quickly to survive the manifold threats the system will throw at you.

Visit iconic locations like Ganymede, Ceres, Mars, and Luna. Walk through ruined habitats and political strongholds mired in unease and tension. Talk to the locals. Uncover secrets. Use your skills to influence what happens next. The system looks different from every planet and from every asteroid. Some are falling apart. Others just hide it better. You may even come across a familiar face or voice that reminds you of just how small the system really is.

Soon, fans of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will be able to don the armor of a Pinkwater mercenary and experience part of the game themselves.

Starting April 22, the closed beta will be available on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 to everyone who purchases the Collector’s Edition or Miller’s Pack on the official website, giving players a feel for the game’s combat, movement in the zero-g environment, and dealing with life and death on a remote space station.

Additionally, Owlcat Games revealed that the game will launch in Spring 2027 on PC (via SteamEpic Games Store, GOG) and on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with a Day 1 launch on Xbox Game Pass. Fans can wishlist the game now.

The beta will allow players to explore a remote space station belonging to their employer Pinkwater Security in the wake of escaping from the catastrophic events on Eros known from the books and TV series. Along with exploring this new environment, they will be able to interact with its inhabitants and experiment with dialogue options and choices. Once the masterminds behind the attack on Eros catch up to them, they will also experience the combat and upgrade mechanics first hand.

Owlcat aims at incorporation valuable player feedback from the beta into the final game.

The beta launches on April 22nd on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. It will be available for founders who purchased The Collector’s Edition or Miller’s Pack, and will run until the game’s launch in Spring 2027. Founder’s Packs can be purchased on the official website. Since the beta is a work in progress, performance may vary and won’t reflect the final quality of the game. On consoles, playing on Xbox Series X or PS5 is recommended.
