Marvel Rivals is a cooperative, Super Hero team-based PVP shooter that lets players assemble an ever-evolving all-star squad of Super Heroes and Super Villains while battling with unique super powers across a dynamic lineup of destructible maps from across the Marvel Multiverse. 

Marvel Rivals features a storyline crafted by the NetEase writing team where the merciless clash between the tyrannical dictator Doctor Doom and his future counterpart from the year 2099 has forced countless universes to collide in the Timestream Entanglement, creating new worlds and crises still unknown.

Now, Super Heroes and Super Villains from across the multiverse must fight together and against one another as disparate groups seek to defeat both Dooms before one achieves domination of these realities. Familiar faces become newfound foes while former enemies become the greatest of allies in Marvel Rivals!

You’re not just higher-dimensional beings controlling game characters, nor are you elite players pressing buttons at high APM — you ARE the heroes. We wanted to take these Super Heroes and push them like never before! Use Magneto to cast Metal Bulwark to protect your teammates from projectile damage. Choose Hela and call upon forces of Nastrond to annihilate your enemies. Choose Venom to tap into the power of the symbiote and devour your enemies or pick Adam Warlock and unleash the potential of quantum magic, establishing a soul bond with your teammates to charge ahead or resurrect your entire team. Better yet, leverage the power of flight by choosing Iron Man, Storm, and other flying heroes to suppress enemies using aerial combat techniques.

Heroes are split into three distinct roles based on their unique power inclinations: Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist. You’re free to pick your preferred role and hero, teaming up with allies to create a versatile and dynamic lineup for battle.

Today at Marvel Rivals Assemble, a special live event celebrating Marvel Rivals, NetEase Games and Marvel Games made a series of world premiere announcements for upcoming game content, collaborations and more coming in 2026.

Marvel Rivals Roadmap - Path to Doomsday

GuangGuang (Creative Director at NetEase Games), Yachen Bian (Publishing and Marketing Lead at NetEase Games), and Danny Koo (Executive Producer at Marvel Games) shared the upcoming roadmap for the game.

In April, June, August, and October, Marvel Rivals will roll out special events and new game modes inspired by Marvel Studios’ Avengers movies, from Marvel Studios’ The Avengers to Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame. Then, in December, to celebrate the release of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Rivals will unveil exciting new game modes and events.

The team also shared highlight metrics showcasing the breadth of engagement for the game:

• Discord community: More than 4.2M
• Total playable Super Heroes: 47
• Total maps launched: 20 (Practice Range is not included)
• Total costumes released: 418
• Extra Game modes available: 11

New Special Mode

• Players will have access to a new, limited-time, special game mode. In this asymmetric fight mode, one player plays as Loki, facing off against six other players who play as different heroes. Loki is equipped with an all-new skill set, combining deception, illusions, and powerful Infinity Stone abilities to turn enemies against each other, similar to events in Marvel Studios’ The Avengers. He can manipulate enemy heroes in battle using mind control and summon versions of the six heroes he commands to join the battlefield to defeat the players. Other heroes can also summon Hulk under certain conditions, recreating iconic scenes from the film!
• This game mode-related Loki costume has been unveiled.

In the upcoming Season 7, a thief and an agent are teaming up in New York for an impossible mission, so players who aren't so lucky should watch their wallets closely!

Marvel Rivals Musical Showcase

Disney Consumer Products

Today, Disney Consumer Products also kicked off the Marvel Assemble! campaign, which invites Marvel fans to assemble their friends and family to celebrate Marvel’s legendary team of Super Heroes and epic storytelling. At the event, products inspired by Marvel Rivals were showcased to attendees including Hot Toys Marvel Rivals Cosbi Collection, Funko POP! Jeff the Land Shark plush, the LEGO Group Ravager Jumpsuit Groot, and more. Fans can keep an eye out at retailers and online for more from the Marvel Assemble! Campaign, and in the coming months, celebrate Earth's Mightiest Heroes with all-new collectibles, apparel, toys, comics, games, digital content, animation and more, building towards the highly anticipated release of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday, in theaters Dec. 18.

In Marvel Rivals, the bonds and friendships that once lived only in the lore are brought to life on the battlefield through Team-Up Abilities, further enriching and changing your combat strategy.
