Capcom brings the Mega Man Star Force series to a new generation of heroes!
Join Geo Stelar and Omega-Xis as they battle threats beyond the stars in this epic adventure. Blending fast-paced action with a unique card-based system, the Mega Man Star Force Collection offers thrilling combat and storytelling that defined the character for a generation of Mega Man fans.
While preserving the original gameplay, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection delivers an updated and enhanced experience.
We recently had a chance to ask Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection Director Oda Koji and Producer Shingo Izumi a few questions.
WorthPlaying: What do you think makes Mega Man Star Force stand out from other games in the franchise?
Director, Koji Oda – I think it's the strong emphasis on human connections, both in the narrative and in the game systems, that makes Mega Man Star Force stand out from other games in the franchise.
WorthPlaying: Are there any specific changes made to the Star Force games made based on fan feedback or what you've learned from previous collections?
Director, Koji Oda – The original release was a highly challenging title, with numerous obstacles placed throughout the game. Even after clearing it once, there were many hidden missions and rewards that could only be obtained by overcoming layers of randomness, which meant that many players were likely unable to experience everything the game had to offer.
With this collection, we have introduced a variety of adjustment and customization features. While the game still requires a certain level of effort from players, these additions are designed to make it easier to engage with and enjoy the full range of gameplay content that was originally available.
WorthPlaying: Will everything from the original Mega Man Star Force games be available in the new version, including the crossover with Lunar Knight?
Director, Koji Oda – Yes, it is possible. I have mentioned in other interviews, but the only content we chose to omit was “Sky High Colosseum,” which was a bonus-style mini-game.
WorthPlaying: How do you think Mega Man Star Force connects to the modern world compared to when it was originally released?
Director, Koji Oda – I feel that the development of social media and personal devices has progressed in a way that closely resembles the world that was envisioned back then.
Producer, Shingo Izumi – Now that we live in a world where it’s normal for all kinds of infrastructure to be connected to networks, it really feels like the real world has finally caught up to the vision of the Battle Network and Star Force worlds.
WorthPlaying: Has there been a lot of fan enthusiasm in response to the Star Force Collection being announced?
Director, Koji Oda – There was a gap of nearly 20 years between the original release and the reveal of this game, so I initially thought that even if there was a response, it might only amount to small ripples. Instead, I was overwhelmed by the level of enthusiasm, which far exceeded my expectations.
Producer, Shingo Izumi – Given the positive reception to Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, I expected we would see a similarly strong response. However, the reaction was even bigger than anticipated across all regions. At the same time, I was especially happy to see how strong the response was from fans in the United States.
WorthPlaying: With Mega Man Dual Override being announced, is there any chance of future games in other Mega Man franchises as well?
Producer, Shingo Izumi – Mega Man is a franchise with a long history and is beloved by fans all over the world. We hope to continue working steadily over the long term so that even more people can enjoy playing the games. To that end, our immediate focus is to do everything we can to ensure that this title, along with Mega Man: Dual Override, reaches as many players as possible.
WorthPlaying: Are there any plans for future Mega Man collections after this?
Producer, Shingo Izumi – At the moment, we are fully focused on delivering this title to as many players as possible, so it’s difficult to think too far ahead. That said, we sincerely hope that enough people will play and enjoy this game to the point where it inspires us to consider developing new collection titles in the future.
Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam) March 27, 2026.
