'Final Fantasy XIV' Comes To Nintendo Switch 2 Next Week

Final Fantasy XIV, a massively-multiplayer role-playing game set in the vast realm of Eorzea, has been rebuilt from the ground up, and centers on the core concept of rebirth, featuring a new world to explore and storyline to experience.

Eorzea, an awe-inspiring land of endless possibilities. Whether you choose to battle fierce creatures in the wilderness, fashion the ultimate blade in the forge, or swap tall tales in the local tavern, the history of Final Fantasy XIV will be shaped by your actions. Choose from an exotic variety of races, looks and classes to fashion your hero. Change classes simply by equipping a different weapon or tool and tackle an ever-changing assortment of level quests alone or with friends.

In addition to bringing the long-running story arc that began with A Realm Reborn to its conclusion, Endwalker marks a new beginning for the MMO, setting the stage for new adventures that longtime fans and new players can enjoy together. The new expansion will bring an abundance of new features, including multiple new jobs, an increased level cap, vast new areas, updates to the battle system, a variety of new challenges to overcome, as well as crafter and gatherer content.

The new Dawntrail expansion sees the Warrior of Light travel to the land of Tural for the first time, bringing with it a wealth of new content. Expect new story, multiple new jobs, sprawling new areas to explore, new allied tribes, new dungeons, new side quests, new Hunts, new Fates, new Treasure Hunts and much more.

The age of adventure has begun.

Final Fantasy XIV will make its debut on the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 4, 2026!

If you already play Final Fantasy XIV on another platform, you will still need to purchase Final Fantasy XIV for Nintendo Switch 2 and a separate subscription for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game. However, if you have remaining game time on other platforms, the Nintendo Switch 2 subscription will be available at half price.

There will be an initial one-month period of early access to ensure server stability, after which official service will start. A subscription to Nintendo Switch Online will not be required to play Final Fantasy XIV on Nintendo Switch 2 in either the early access period or during official service.

The expanded Free Trial now includes all content from A Realm Reborn and the Heavensward expansion, as well as an additional playable race (Au Ra), and three additional playable jobs (Dark Knight, Astrologian, and Machinist). Free Trial players can enjoy hundreds of hours of award-winning gameplay and story experiences equivalent to two full Final Fantasy titles, without limit on playtime.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is available for PC, PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series X|S, coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on August 4, 2026.
