17. 'Aliens: Colonial Marines' (WiiU/PS3/X360/PC)

Based on the Aliens movie, Aliens: Colonial Marines is a squad-based first-person shooter where players are part of a United States Colonial Marine squad and must prepare to face an Aliens assault more intense and horrific than ever before.

Mark Buckingham: A good Aliens game is a rare and wonderful thing when it's actually fun — which is almost never. The expectations on Aliens: Colonial Marines are incredibly high, so high that I'm not sure it'll ever live up to them, no matter what it brings to the table. Even if it is a letdown, it's in capable hands and fans will lap it up, even if it might be the swan song for the franchise since so few have been able to do Aliens right in the last three decades. There's no denying the appeal of stepping into the boots of the marines once you've watched the 1986 classic that inspired this title.

Reggie Carolipio: Gearbox knows its shooters and has always found ways to challenge the formula into doing more for players, whether it was the squad-oriented command system of Brothers in Arms or tacking on RPG elements with Borderlands. For a studio that made shooting things fun on so many different levels, having it focus its skills on a property like Aliens sounds like a perfect storm.

Dustin Chadwell: I'm a huge, huge "Aliens" fan. I am unapologetic in my love for "Prometheus" and can even find things to like about "Alien Resurrection." For the most part, outside of the original Aliens vs. Predators and the old side-scrolling arcade game Aliens, the video games haven't been great. The more recent DS title was pretty good at building atmosphere, but the gameplay bored me to tears. With a studio like Gearbox at the helm on this title, I'm hoping that SEGA's attempt at revitalizing the franchise actually works.

Rhi "StormyDawn" Hale: I look forward to listening to my boyfriend squeal like a little girl whenever a Xenomorph jumps out at him. Say what you will about the series and its games, but the jump scares are second to none.
